Red Robin #8

Red Robin is basically about Tim's transition from boy sidekick to adult hero, starting with Tim being angry at Dick's kicking him out of the nest and fighting to keep hold of his "boy wonder" role as Robin, but in trying to hold on to it learning (imo) that he's outgrown it.

There's already been a running theme of Tim announcing that he's about to die, only to not die, almost as if he's step by step coming to accept that there is life after Robin.

I scanned these two pages because they seem to encapsulate what Chris Yost is going for in this series in terms of what Tim's about and what growing up (not sure if that's the right word) is about.





At one point Tim tells someone "I know who I am," and that seems to basically be the theme of this series. Everybody's joked about how everyone Tim loves gets either killed or threatened with death, so I like the way Yost focuses on him coming to understand that he carries those people with him in a way. For Bats, fighting ninjas is therapy.

"Sexy flashbacks" in the DCU blog and "sexy flashbacks" in S_D are entirely different things, methinks.

THIS IS TRUE. I just interpreted it as "Tim has had sex. You will find out this information in flashback format."

Also, it's entirely possible that the "sexy flashback" has already occurred in the book and I missed it because I did not identify it as such.

The only thing that could possibly fit so far is maybe the scenes where the spider-poison-girl was shown to have killed some guy by making out with him?? (God, that sounds so ridiculous when I type it...lol)

Dang it, as if I needed another reason to follow this series! Now I can't wait for the next issue. I just hope they don't invent a triangle between Tim, Tam, and Steph.

Yeah. I mean, I wish Steph and Tim could get past their mutual drama. I'm really liking Tam so far, and she's had enough drama already.

Well, the Bat-family is not really good at getting past trauma. . But I just wish they don't add Tam-the-supposed-love-interest to the mix--it kinda gives a teen drama vibe, and I hate teen dramas.

If it's the comment I remember, that was the scene he was referring to. The artist or whoever was talking about flashback in one of the early issues and it was one that when it came out didn't include Tim.
