I posted this meme image of Spider-Man in the comments a few days ago, and never really thought too hard about where it came from. Then I went looking and I discovered Spider-Man: The Root of All Annoyance, a fun digital-only release from 2009.

When Spider-Man and Black Cat foil a bank robbery, Peter finds himself stuck holding the bag. Could this be the end of Spider-Man's money problems?

The former's winning can seem too obvious, the latter's too obviously contrived.

When whoever does does, it can read like their view of things' being touted over the other's.

Those problems weren't in the Punisher and Spidey's fights in Avenging Spider-Man #22.

It probably helped that the Spider in question was Superior.

It was going out the same way it'd come in.

The Warriors were confronting the High Evolutionary and his plan to kill everyone on Earth who wasn't flatscan human. They beat his Evolutionaries and subdued him.

Then Earth's own Eternals BOOM'd into the story.

Superior Spider-Man, meet Kaine, the former supervillain who killed you that one time. Scarlet Spider, meet Otto Octavius, the former supervillain who stole your clone-brother's body/identity.
