JLI Disassembled. The Rise of Triumph!
Because nobody demanded it, here's part 1 of "Return of the Hero!"
5 pages from Justice League International #67 and 7 pages from Justice League America #92
We begin in JLI 67 where the team is still mourning Tora/Ice's recent death at the hands of Overmaster. But...

The JLA is of course angry that Beetle's selling out to the media like this without consulting the team.

Dun dun dun internal conflict! But wait...why DID Ted go ahead and talk to the media and sell the story anyway?

Because he needed the money to make sure Booster old buddy was kept treated! He was wounded badly during the Overmaster battle I believe.
The story then just jumps back and forth between the various characters who are discussing what to do now that the League's all but disbanded.

Despite Wondie beating the crap out of a villain and making some people happy about the League again the members still split.

And the issue ends with the Mysterious man in gold appearing before a few of the Leaguers (Elongated Man, L-Ron/Despero, Fire, Crimson Fox and Gypsy.)
Now cometh Zero Hour which tied into his origin and kickstarted his story in Justice League America #92

It's time to see the Justice Leagues first battle as you've never seen it before!

One thing I've wondered despite having the issues is, are these the same aliens the JLA first grouped together to fight? (The Appelaxians?)

The timeline's always been a bit wonky for me but basically Triumph put together this team just shortly after Superman began his career. Which is why though people know Superman he hasn't been around all that long and the other heroes even less since they only started popping up after Superman did. (JSA and Black Canary not withstanding I suppose)

Triumph's plan to stop the aliens from drilling into Earth and suck its energy dry is currently going to shit.
Sadly Triumph has been known to have a temper at times. This also began a feud between MM and Triumph.
Here Triumph comes to save the day now!

Sadly attacking the Time Displacement drive head on as suxh DOES save the day but the chronal energy rips Triumph out of the timeline sending him into a limbo where aside from physically vanishing everyone also forgot about Will as if he never existed. That is until the time storms caused by Zero Hour loosened him, freeing him.
Will then consults Ralph who informs Will the League is disbanded as Will is stupified and Ralph simply states "We are the Justice League or what's left of it. And guess what mister, we're not interested."
To be continued in Part 2!

Her hair! Her shoulders! Her waist! Her bathing suit's bottom looks like nega-space! Like it's not there, but it is! ARGH! THE 90'S!!!

Oh Triumph. They tried so hard to shoe-horn him in the JLA, but he ended up getting killed, blown up and then forgotten. Oh woe.

Or because he was a dull character. One or the other.

Tasmanian Devil was, IIRC. And he's currently doing fine and well and he certainly wasn't hurt off-camera in "Gay for Justice", no sir.
