New cryptic Brightest Day teaser image

In the grand tradition of such things, DC have issued a new cryptic teaser image for their... well, let's be charitable and call it "controversial"... Brightest Day series...

So amongst other things I notice

Hal in fetching, but probably hell to keep clean, White Lantern outfit... Sucks to not be Sinestro eh? :)

Jason and Ronnie either burying or unearthing Black Lantern Firstorm.

Jade not looking at all well

Aquaman looking REALLY not at all well.

And to spread the artistic appreciation of S_D, as thokstar mentions below, it's apparently inspired by "The Rock", a painting by Peter Blume.

Looks very interesting. I love the Star Sapphire portal to death the Hawks are tied to. makes a huge amount of sense. Jonn stiring the flames around the forest in Star City is a bit disturbing.

It's a reference to what happened in last issue of GLC, I believe--the Weaponer found the white light net that Deadman created while trying to get the hell away from Anti-Monitor.

What I can't figure out is what's with the glowing web growing out from under the shield in the foreground?

It's a net that !Deadman threw at the Anti-Monitor earlier in Brightest Day. The most recent solicit for GLC says that one of the Weaponers of Qward will use the shield and net as a weapon to go after Soranik Natu and Sinestro.

I've been thinking about Brightest Day.

The reason it's called Brightest Day isn't because of some shiny happy wonderful stuff. It's the Green Lantern Oath. "In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night, No evil shall escape my sight"

The oath's have been altered so they're part prophecy now. So obviously this is about the evil in the Brightest Day.

DC would LIKE to call it "controversial," rather than "disappointing," "boring," "a waste of money," "not even a good fanwank," "pointlessly gross" and my personal favorite, "a complete waste of Ivan Reis."

"Controversial" would be if Batman came out. Not when people simply dislike the stupid comic you're doing and have realized that the only point of Events is more Events.
