Selina, your confusion and anger might be more believable if you weren't already getting in position for it.

Still, that is some NICE Phil Noto art.

Clearly Selina was going to pick up her underpants following Black Canary and Black Widow's contest to see who could slingshot a pair of panties farther with one finger when someone kicked the bowl under her and told her to drink from it.

Love the Noto pic (Though are those... umm... ladies undergarments lying around her?)

This Batman thing does look like it could be fun, the Joker guy looks and acts great, a little Romero at times, a little Hamill at others, but also underlying that the Joker is only rarely actually funny, normally he's just insanely dangerous and happens to have a fixed grim.

Harley looks great, Ivy looks... like she'll probably be rather cold a lot, and I'm actually very, very impressed by the Catwoman costume, it looks almost practical with the belted jacket and NOT a bodystocking. Riddler and Penguin also seems to have the right look.

I do wonder if Batman was muttering "Don't skip down stairs Robin, it does look macho" at the end.

I didn't hear that much of Hamill. I actually think that the guy is obviously cribbing from Ledger, especially in how he smacks his lips.

Penguin is definitely rocking the Burgess Meredith look.

As fine a role model as one could hope for IMHO.

Tracing the image back to its original posting on Noto's tumblr, I find it was inspired by a twitter exchange between Gail and Marjorie which ranged through many subjects, including ladies' foundation garments and which of the two Black Heroines is cooler, Canary or Widow. Explaining Tasha's presence here.

I did not trace it all the way back to the twitter threads, but given the participants I have no doubt that it was teh awesome.

Hmm. Looks good for the most part. My favorite villain is the Riddler, because that guy is rocking the look. I kinda thought he was made out of plastic or something for a bit. He just wasn't moving...

I like their Ivy, which is strange because there's very few live action Ivys that look like her. (To me, anyway.) She's swaying an awful lot, though. Not really how I thought she walk, but whatever. Kept expecting her to fall down. And seriously, that's the Robin look they're going for? Strange...

Oh well. Looks fun.

Ivy sashaying a little I can get behind... if you'll pardon the expression; she wants everyone to pay attention to her and working her hips more or less guarantees it (I'm just relieved they haven't given her green skin, that looks has never worked for me in the comics), plus I think she was playing up the "model on the catwalk" bit as she promenaded for the Press.

The Robin is a curious mix. Lookd to be sort of a fusion of the "Batman Forever" Robin, Damian's Robin and a bit of, as noted elsewhere, Watchmen movie Ozymandius.

This is an arena show, so I think they have to over-emphasise the muscle definition with the shaped torso or else it won't be seen clearly.

Look, could you do a fun cheesecakey picture with Catwoman lapping at a bowl of milk? Probably, but this (the Greg Horn picture, that is) is not that. Setting aside the fact that it's just ugly, the combination of everything happening in a dirty alleyway and Batman just... being there (yes, I understand. He gave her the milk. So he could... ogle her buttocks while she drank it. I guess.)

At that point, the fact that it's a cat bowl just adds to the skeeziness of the whole thing.

Looking back at this post, let me make it clear, if you enjoy lapping milk from a catbowl while men in spandex glower at your posterior, there's nothing inherently wrong with that. I still don't think it's particularly attractive, or true to Catwoman.

I'd have preferred a shot of Batman with a carton of milk in one hand, a bowl in the other, and an optimistic expression, and Seilna standing in front of him fuming and clearly about to let rip with the loudest "HELL NO!" in Gotham history.

[personal profile] donnblake 2011-04-13 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I was thinking more Selina reclining on a cushion somewhere, dangling one finger into a saucer (fine china, of course) of milk, with Batman, you know, not there, but hey, whatever.

Seriously, though, why is Batman even there? He's clearly not enjoying the view- he looks almost angry about the whole thing. Which is a shame, but whatever stripper he's hired to dress like Catwoman is clearly putting out the effort to present her bottom- I think it's actually going.
