Over a storyline spanning several issues, it's revealed that Maxwell Lord has been taking over Superman's mind (it took him several years to achieve that). The result has made Superman highly suggestive, which ends with Clark taking out the whole Justice League sans-Wonder Woman. The actual story isn't that great but the climax is rather amazing. The following pages only show half of the WWvsSupes fight.

Bingo. It just seemed ridiculous. But then, well, so did the entire setup of that first issue. It just seemed like an excuse to get the three to loathe one another, especially Bruce coming out with shit like 'the last time you inspired anyone was when you were dead' to Clark, which.. It feels like such a complete misunderstanding of Batman's character.

Very much a 'change the characters to fit the plot' kind of thing.

I don't think Johns got WW very well in general, even aside from that one scene.
