Fantastic Four #567 - So much for that idea.

Oh boy.

As the board says where I nabbed these scans from, let the vitroil flow freely.

Help us, Squirrel Girl, you are our only hope.

Clearly when the "Master" thought he sent Doom to a happy little fantasy world before killing him, what really happened was that Doom sent him to this fantasy world.

Next issue, we see the "Master" kill the FF and the entire rest of the world, only for it to turn out that it was all happening in his head and that Doom was laughing at him the whole time.

Or, you know, Doombot.

[identity profile] jlbarnett.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure Doom makes his Doombots that real. I do like the idea that this is the "Master's" fantasy

[identity profile] taggerung301.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
that'd be pretty trippy

well, I liked Doom at first when he stood up and just said the bowing was out of respect. I breifly thought Millar might have somewhat better insight into Doom than I thought But when the dream sequence switched over to Doom replacing Reed in the FF I'd thought we'd switched to another AU. When it was revealed as Victor's fantasy I knew he didn't. The Doom wants Reed's life thing is something for writers that don't completely get the character or need a shortcut like in the movie. If Doom ever won he might eventually end up like Reed having a family and all. But he doesn't want Reed's place. If he's interested in Sue Storm it's only because he saw how well she played the Baroness Von Doom role that one time.

Still, I have to figure Doom will be back in the end. I actually wonder about the apprentice though. I figure he's an AU Doom, an AU Kristoph or an AU Reed.

The guy in the hood with this Master punk?

He's the main villain from Millar's Marvel 1985 miniseries thing. I think that's him anyway.

[identity profile] warpedhand.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, the Master is absolutely screwed. He left Doom to his own devices, and millions of years? Idiot.

[identity profile] thanekos.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I am suddenly reminded of this:

" ... the Red Skull gave Victor pieces of technology from an old German castle. The castle was owned by a "Baron of Iron" centuries prior, who had used his technological genius to protect himself and his people. The map the Red Skull used to find the castle bore a picture of Doctor Doom. Doctor Doom states that the technology the Red Skull gave him is more advanced than what he currently has, and that he will become the Baron of Iron in his future. "

okay, so someone else came up with that, but still.

[identity profile] sianmink.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah Doom will come back riding a giant flying prehistoric shark with a laser on its head and a time machine made from ferns and crystals (It worked for Dr. Dinosaur (http://asylums.insanejournal.com/scans_daily/333411.html#cutid1) )

[identity profile] proteus_lives.insanejournal.com 2009-06-12 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Followed by an army of hawkmen. "So, Doom only has 14 hours to save the Earth? Bah! Doom requires only two!"

First Wave! DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEE!!

Isn't that where Morgan le Fay is right now?

[identity profile] ashtoreth.insanejournal.com 2009-06-11 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
She did say that Doom couldn't kill her, because she's part of his future or something.

I'm guessing they're gonna hook up, yeah.

[identity profile] foxhack.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Rulk was bad.

But this? This is worse. -_-

[identity profile] thanekos.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
... and yet, if the two of them fought, that would be awesome.

[identity profile] majingojira.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Especially (only?) if it results in Mutually Assured Destruction.

[identity profile] adon_ca.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Who wins?

Euhhh... okay so Loeb is writing truly awful crud in Rulk, which for some reason is a big seller.

Buuuut -- Millar is one of Joe Q's golden boys, and has taken the potions of 'Able to Ignore Continuity Completely' and 'I Can Do Whatever I Want'.

Buuuut -- is Loeb now considered a Golden Boy too? He has been given the keys to the Ultiverse for a while to make it suck and suck bad.

Buuuut -- Millar seems to pretty much get whatever he wants when he wants as far as Marvel is concerned.

Worst Case Scenario -- Rulk and MOD bond! "You're awesomely badass!" "No, YOU'RE awesomely badass!" "Hey, we're both awesomely badass! Let's go punk some has-been badasses with our power of writer's favor!"

[identity profile] goblinthebamf.insanejournal.com 2009-06-11 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know, their collective XTREME factor might bond differently than you think, and they might end up skipping off in a meadow into a pink sunset with rainbows... but the risks are far too great to ever test!

[identity profile] tacobob.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Just as Dolphins save good guys from the deep, Sharks save baddies. Those sharks will save Doom and he will make a time machine from the mud and leaves that he finds..Then he'll give that Lord Of The Rings drop-out such a whooping!

[identity profile] taggerung301.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure that Doom would be completely unstoppable with an army of sharks - Richards could only tremble in fear

[identity profile] lieut_kettch.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Not just any sharks-- sharks with FRIKKIN' "LASER" BEAMS ATTACHED TO THEIR HEADS!

[identity profile] sianmink.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
And Crystals! (http://asylums.insanejournal.com/scans_daily/333411.html#cutid1) Don't forget crystals!

[identity profile] taggerung301.insanejournal.com 2009-06-11 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
but of course!

[identity profile] milleniumrex.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
You can always tell a bit about a writer by who their Mary Sue character is.

Damian Wayne, Red Hulk, Hal Jordan, etc. It's pretty interesting.

This? This paints a rather disturbing picture. :/

[identity profile] crinosg.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
The only way this could be salvageable is if it turns out that this Master guy actually is Doom, and he got this was BECAUSE the master fossilized him and sent him back to dinosaur times.

[identity profile] goblinthebamf.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
...riiiiight. (http://www.elfonlyinn.net/d/20021230.html)

Is that C'Thun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpc3aNxbsTY&feature=related)?

[identity profile] goblinthebamf.insanejournal.com 2009-06-11 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
ack now I want to do an AQ run...

that's Lord Wootsayediditagyn (http://www.elfonlyinn.net/d/20021027.html) of Elf Only Inn, a comic which has many (http://www.elfonlyinn.net/d/20020927.html) examples (http://www.elfonlyinn.net/d/20020601.html) of people who use idiotic mary sue writing styles (http://www.elfonlyinn.net/d/20020703.html) and how to react (http://www.elfonlyinn.net/d/20020603.html).

[identity profile] moneyless_jew.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't need to be a Doom aficianado to know this will end with Victor returning from prehistory to help kill this guy.

[identity profile] blake_reitz.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't even need to be a reader of marvel comics!

[identity profile] bucky_7.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Didn't Doom send Morgan Le Fay way back into Dinosaur time in Dark Avengers #4? Maybe it was the Pliocene age and we'll have an almighty tumble/battle/reunion.

[identity profile] lbd_nytetrayn.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
...so, what happens after the sex, then?

--LBD "Nytetrayn"

[identity profile] midnightvoyager.insanejournal.com 2009-06-11 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
................

If this happens, I will take back at least one of the terribly nasty things I have said about this story.

[identity profile] sinisterlink.insanejournal.com 2009-06-11 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
I was actually thinking about that, too. I would totally love to see Morgan snarking on him about how he sent her there and then got himself sent there like a week later. Then they could have awesome hate sex and afterwards they could get an army of dinosaurs/sharks/whatever together and go take out Doom's "masters".

[identity profile] khamelea.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Unless the "Master" is indeed a much more ancient Doom, I can't see an outcome that would actually reduces the sheer stupidity of the character concept.

[identity profile] seriousfic.insanejournal.com 2009-06-10 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
So, let me get this straight. The Master considers Dr. Doom a complete failure, an embarrassment, a complete incompetent boob... so he puts on his mask and names himself after Victor?

The worst part is knowing we're going to have to suffer through God knows how many issues of "Dr. Doom" pwning the FF.

Loving It.

Has anyone considered that the Marquis is none other than an older Von Doom...from another reality? After all, his new student appears to have the ability to transcend time and space...

[identity profile] ashtoreth.insanejournal.com 2009-06-11 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, no one has ever thought of a Kang story before.

Hey, did you get these from CBR?

[identity profile] xdoop.insanejournal.com 2009-06-11 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
This is more than four pages.

[identity profile] rabican.insanejournal.com 2009-06-11 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Just to lend some modly weight and clarification, only four pages of a recent comic can be posted by any one member - please remove a few pages of your choice. You can read the posting guidelines (http://asylums.insanejournal.com/scans_daily/profile#POSTING%20GUIDELINES) for more detail. Thanks!

The rage......

This storyline sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Millar can't Doom to save his life!
