The Debut of Silver Sable

I'm not particularly big on Marvel, but one of my pals on the Internet seems heads-over-heels about Silver Sable for some reason. As a birthday present for him, I've seen fit to post Sable's debut story here, an issue which he does not own.

Personally, I barely know who Sable is - the most I can gleam is that she's some kind of mercenary who was kind of a flash-in-the-pan hit during the '90s "bad girl" era - but this story went down smoothly enough. I'd certainly like to know more about her, if anyone has any recommendations...?

Okay, general plot: international jewel thief Black Fox (presumably an original creation by Tom DeFalco) is being hunted by the mercenary corporation The Wild Pack. Spidey sees their reckless gunplay and decides to butt in:

Eventually, Spidey, the Fox, and the Wild Pack all run into each other again at the docks. Oh, and Peter's got his black suit (the other black suit. The not-evil one that Felicia sewed for him... I think) on for some reason.

Eventually, Peter decides to help out the Fox, because he's just a big softy and can't bear to see an old guy getting hammered by rubber bullets. Granted, Fox did kinda have to spin him a sob story about his estranged family first.

... and that's about it for Sable's presence in the story. There were many additional subplots concerning MJ, Aunt May, and Harry Osborn's kid, which I skipped in the interests of post limit and not getting banned.

I have to say, despite those subplots, the issue as a whole is easy enough for a newbie like me to understand. I don't know where Tom DeFalco sits on the average seasoned Spider-Fan's ranking of writers, but he's okay in my book.

So... anyone want to guess at the odds of seeing Sable in the MCU or the new Spider-Man movies anytime soon?

Didn't Silver Sable "die" recently, killed by the Rhino in Ends of the Earth?

I think so. I believe she confessed her love for Spider-Man and then had a thoroughly unconvincing off-screen death (I think....I might be remembering incorrectly).

Wouldn't be surprised to see her pop up in the movies if Sony keeps doing them. Not that she's THAT major of a character, but if they're going to build a "Spider-verse" for themselves, they'll probably be digging deep into the character catalog.

I hope so. Silver Sable and the Foreigner were provocatively mysterious folks.
