Peter and Mary Jane have the "I know you're Spider-Man" talk in the middle of Central Park. There's nothing about how she found out. She talks about her parents and her sister.

Mary Jane also has a guilt complex )

Final part. With the Midnight Wreckers relentlessly persecuted by Baintronics and Arno Stark - the Iron Man of 2020 - Machine Man decides he has to end it once and for all.

Black boxes being my clumsy cuts to get under the page count for a 23 page original.

Aaron Stack vs. Arno Stark. Is the similarity in names a coincidence? There's no answer here, but it's always bothered me. Anyway, on with the story!

More-n seven, fewer'n eight pages of twenty-three. Tom DeFalco's script, Herb Trimpe's breakdowns and Barry Windsor-Smith's finishes & colours.

Previously, Aaron Stack - the magnificent Machine Man - woke up in the year 2020 after being reassembled by a group of cyberpunks fighting the corporate menace of Baintronics. Now, he and his rescuers - the Midnight Wreckers - are on the run. But maybe it's best if a character in the strip itself recaps things for us, yes?

2020 is fast approaching, and Dan Slott is planting some seeds in his Iron Man run that reference past future events for the armoured avenger. As well as somehow getting around to his long-awaited Reckoning War (hey, he did have Gauntlet pop up again!) I'm hoping that we will get around to some of the events that happened in the four issue miniseries Machine Man 2020 by Tom deFalco and a whole bunch of artists (Herb Trimpe inked by Barry Windsor-Smith here, for some gorgeous eighties cyberpunk).

Well, Slott definitely needs to bring back the future-speak, anyway!

Welcome to the dark far future of two years hence! )

I intended to post this before The Life of Captain Marvel #1.
SOLO AVENGERS #2 covers Hawkeye's origin, adding in the man who actually taught Clint Barton how to use a bow and arrow. It is written by Tom DeFalco with art by M.D. Bright.

This is one of the stupidest and yet vastly underrated moments in Marvel history...

SOLO AVENGERS #12 has Clint Barton, an adamantium-tipped arrow, and a gamma-powered monster. Let's see what happens. 3 1/2 pages on an 11 page story after the cut.

SPIDER-GIRL #7 has MayDay Parker and her mother, Mary Jane, talking in the Parker attic. It was a 6 page backup story, but has the same writer and artist as the main story, Tom DeFalco and Pat Oliffe.

A yearly event. )
