Doctor Hormone vs. Nazians and the KKK

Doctor Hormone and Jane, back home in America, head to Washington to help the government ward off an invasion from "Nazia." This time, they get to face off as well against another foe, portrayed every bit as true-to-life as the previous. *cough*

This public domain story is from Popular Comics #59 (Jan. 1941). Scans courtesy of ComicBookPlus.com.

That has to be the strangest portrayal of the Klan I've ever seen. Not a single mention of their racist, anti-Semitic, anti-Catholic ideology. (Although that suggests the porter is, thank God, spared.) And the reason the Klansmen are after Hormone? He's "talking defense, creating hysteria." Um, isn't that precisely what the Klan does? By their logic, they should be trying, like Assinoff, to recruit him before resorting to murder. Well, at least the Kleagle's last words provide a chuckle.

Coming up: Dr. Hormone's final, most bizarre adventure yet!

Y'know. I'd like to see a modern comic tribute to this. Except not whitewashed as was done with Stardust the Super Wizard.

Also, apparently Nazians who screw up get fucking tortured to death. People who think grimdark is a modern phenomenon don't know what they're talking about.

I would adore a comic with Dr. Hormone, Jane and their squad of resourceful Flea-Men fighting modern-day bigotry.

Get Mike Mignola to write it. And whenever Dr. Hormone violates an international law have an annotation box in the corner of the page referring to it like how other comics reference past issues.

Modern books don't got nothin' on the golden age for that.

Whoa, I didn't sign up for math.

Why'd that guy call him "ma'am?" Is Dr. Hormone also Madam Fatal?

I'm surprised Dr Hormone didn't defeat the Klan by turning them against each other by dousing them in 'colored hormones'...

"He's "talking defense, creating hysteria." "

I'm not sure how the KKK positioned itself, but they're likely intended to be similar to the anti-intervention groups like the later America FIrst Party, and others.
