Secret Empire #6: Who is the Traitor?

I wasn't intending on posting anything really regarding Secret Empire. After Civil War II: Enchanted Christmas, I was pretty done with Marvel events. However, there was just one moment from Secret Empire that grabbed my attention, because its a point that I constantly brought up a while back about how Spencer treated two certain characters...

Also, yes, I am in the page limit. 1/3 left over.

Does... does Spencer just really like beating up on Cassie and Scott or something? He loves making one of them a victim and the other a major screw-up who makes things worse. It's so frickin' annoying.

Two things: One, these are superheroes and they are very good at dealing with that kind of thing, and two, both Scott *and* Cassie are superheroes and are the ones to take the risk.

Or three: She's a Superhero and will cause trouble herself sooner or later, inevitably.

I don't think any of that affects my point. A superhero risks their own life all the time, but that's a completely separate thing from risking the lives of family.

Their family is also a superhero and they have a group which is actively capable of going in and affecting a rescue.

Right, but this wouldn't be Cassie choosing to do something risky, it'd be him doing something to put HER at risk, and a pretty big risk at that. I think, for a parent, that's very different. And rescues can fail.

For a parent who's also a superhero when there's a fascist regime they're resisting... if he's unwilling to take some risks, he really should not have joined up in the first place. It's not like I'm saying 'don't protect his loved ones,' even, just 'trust his friends to do so more than he trusts Hydra to keep it's word.'

Take a risk himself, sure. Put others at risk, not so much.

I think he'd trust his friends to do their best, but it's not like the resistance has had sterling success against the regime so far.

Scott lived through Cassie dying once (at the hands of Doctor Doom), and it absolutely devastated him. I could understand him not wanting to risk it, but a little communication with his team would have been the wiser play.
