...that's it? that's the pay-off? Ultimate Peter Parker is alive? and both Miles and Peter were ultimately (hah!) meaningless to this story? and they don't even get to meet Ult!Peter? oh and Ult!Riri is a thing now... it's not a complain just... a thing that exists...
It wouldn't be so bad if not... well... as someone kindly put it in Tumblr:
"Ever since Secret Wars, I never got why Miles needed to join 616. It was bullshit because it…ruined him. It ruined his significance. And yet, here we are with Spider-Gwen who has her own universe and can freely jump between dimensions, but Miles could not be afforded his own? Urgh.
But what pisses me off is that we see Ultimate Peter with his own. An alive Peter. Another Peter Parker. In his Ultimate Universe. That he died in.
Part of Miles entire problem with being Spider-man is that he had to share the title with an alive Peter Parker. So several issues of his revolve around this problem that would not be a problem if he stayed in the Ultimate Universe sans not reviving Peter for reasons no one actually wanted. So now we have a story where Peter is alive and uncomfortable with miles being Spider-man because he is alive and whatever and tells Miles to stop. BUT MILES ORIGIN REVOLVES AROUND PETER’S DEATH. IT REVOLVES AROUND THAT THE ULTIMATE UNIVERSE IS SHORT ON HEROES LIKE PETER. All of this could have been avoided if Miles stayed in the Ultimate Universe.
And I am pissed. They turned his story into a convoluted mess because they just had to have Peter and him in the same universe. It is unfathomable that Peter is dead in spite of them killing him on an almost bi-yearly basis. "
Sure, that didn't conclude anything, answer many questions, or actually involve Peter or Miles, but I'm sure Bendis will get to that with Spider-Men III.
Yeah, one of the last arcs of Miles' Ultimate Universe books was all about how both Peter and Osborn are effectively immortal now, and Peter chose to let Miles continue being Spider-Man while he went off into the sunset with MJ. So I guess in Reed Richards' reconstructed Ultimate Universe he either came back after Miles' and his close supporting cast 'disappeared', or there was no Spider-Man between his 'death' and return. Or he just never 'died', I guess. I mean things are clearly different in this neo-ultimate universe, as last I checked Captain America, Thor, Hulk and Giant-Man were all dead, Spider-Woman had taken up the Black Widow name. I wonder if this version of The Ultimates area actually decent people.

Personally, I can't wait for the nearly inevitable mind screw that will be a what if mini focused on Hickman's secret wars sooner or later.
