Alex Ross creates a poster to celebrate Captain Marvel

"But Icon_UK, there have been so MANY Captain Marvel's, which Captain Marvel is he honouring?" you ask

"Oh, my sweet summer child," I say, "ALL OF THEM!"

Given the myriad of instantly recognisable art styles, This MAY look like a collage, but it's not! Every single character was by Alex Ross, who I've never seen mimic so many styles at once.

and then some, as he's also included characters derived, inspired as well, and their alter egos and supporting casts.

Basically, if it's a hero (no villains) who has used the name "Captain Marvel" or who transforms from one person (usually a child, or teenager) into another (usually adult) super-powered character using a magic word or easily repeatable gesture, then there are good odds on them being here.

My geek fu is good, but I don't stand a changce of getting them all

Multiple versions of of Captain Marvel and Billy Batson from multiple media
Mary Marvel
Captain Marvel Jr.
Mar-Vell (and Rick Jones)
Monica Rambeau (Captain MArvel, Photon, Pulsar, Spectrum)
Carol Danvers (Ms Marvel, Captain Marvel)
Marvelman/Miracleman
Thunder (From The Legion of Super-Heroes, the Shazam powered character of the 31st Century)
Prime (Ultraverse)
The Gentleman (Astro City)
Dial H for H.E.R.O. (Robby Reed)
Ben 10
The Fly
Ultraman (Toku Heroes)
He-Man and Battle-Cat (Prince Adam and Cringer)
Hoppy the Marvel Bunny
Thunderbunny
OMAC
Mighty Mightor
Thundergirl (Big Bang Comics)
Mighty Man (Big Bang Comics)
Shazzan (60s cartoon)
Thor (And Donald Blake)
Etrigan the Demon
Captain Triumph
Pureheart the Powerful (Archie Andrews)
Superior
Mighty Isis
The Infinity Man (The Forever People)
Adam Warlock (Not seeing that one as much of a connection to be honest as I don't remember him having a non-Adam Warlock persona)

Honestly, the only one I can't see that I expected to is Kid Eternity, (who was even a member of the Shazam family back in the 70's, after being revealed as Freddie Freeman's brother) but I might just be missing him in the crowd.

Kamala Khan's Ms Marvel isn't there eitehr but as she's never used the name Captain Marvel, and her powers are completely different from the theme, I can sort of see why.

There are several which I suspect are from cartoon's, especially old school anime, which I don't recognise, and a couple I feel I should, but don't. (The sinister looking gentleman in black and yellow above Ben 10, and the two just to the left of He-Man; the kid in the baseball cap with the diamond on his chest and the sort of fantasy looking guy crossing his wrists). But if you spot one, please do note it in the comments.

And here are the pencils, if anyone is interested

I gotta say, Fatman the human Flying Saucer is a super deep cut. I only know of him because of Jeff Rovin's encyclopedia of super heroes (My Library in the town I grew up in had all three of his encyclopedias, and I would check them out constantly. Eventually I bought a copy of Encyclopedia of monsters).

He was created and drawn by C. C. Beck, and wears a green Marvel suit.
