Timelines being re-written... isn't the whole point of the Marvel multiverse that time travel just creates new realities rather than altering the existing ones? They do seem to go back and forth on that though, don't they?

Usually the point is time travel creates alternate realities. Unless you use magic / cheat, and one of them there is Doctor Doom. Who is generally known for cheating outrageously.
I'm going to be daring and suggest that, as far as writing offenses go, not fully demonstrating a character's personality on the very first and so far only page they appear in isn't one.
