Rorschach #12 (of 12)

"[Hannah Arendt] had been in a concentration camp, and how we as a free society stop another Nazi rising was sort of her obsession of her whole life. Instead of constructing Rorschach from a Randian point of view, if we construct him from an Arendt point of view, how does that change our conception of superheroes, and our conception of vigilantism? If we go from the idea of 'it's obviously bad to kill people without trials' to 'Is it bad to kill Nazis without trials?' it makes a different moral universe and different moral questions, or at least the same questions but, you know, turning the ball on its side so you can see it from a different angle." - Tom King

Rorschach #10-11

"Loki for America was going to begin with the day of the election, and the Democratic party had conceded the election and Loki had officially won the US Presidency. He's walking on a stage while people chant 'President Loki! President Loki!'. His brother Thor is even there to congratulate him, but leans in while shaking his hand and whispers 'You're not worthy.' Loki is shaken by that but makes his way up to the podium. As he is about to talk, he's assassinated... shot dead. Then a black page with the text 'One year earlier…'" - Tom King, on the seed from which RORSCHACH grew

Rorschach #9

"Things are crazy right now. I mean, it's insane; it's driving people insane. We have to talk about it; we have to try and make things that are as good as all that's bad out there is bad, or else we'll just surrender to it, and who wants to do that, who has the time to do that?" - Tom King

Rorschach #8

"Yeah, it’s about our current moment, which you know, by the time half of it comes out, hopefully our current moment will have changed a bit. But it’s about sort of modern American paranoia about a world where 30 percent of our population seems to believe in Q and Qanon, and it’s about a world where we’re like, I’m having this conversation with you locked in my fucking house because there’s a disease outside and there’s 160,000 dead Americans, which seems very avoidable if you look at the statistics of other countries, and it’s driving us mad as a culture." - Tom King

"When I write now I find, and I could be wrong, but if you write about what you’re obsessed about, it becomes better. One of my current obsessions is sort of comic book history and sort of the effects comic book creators have inside that..." - Tom King

Rorschach #6

"I worship his art but I think he'd hate everything I wrote. We're going to pay as much tribute to his beautiful art — and nobody tributes Steve [Ditko] better than Jorge — but he'd totally hate all of this and I apologize to his ghost." - Tom King

Before Watchmen: The Comedian #6

“[The Comedian] would be friends with Obama as well. He moves in that kind of circle. Once you're president, there's blood on your hands — there's no way around it.” — Brian Azzarello
