And comics history is made!

I remember, as a kid, reading the newspaper-comic version of the John Jameson story (back when Lee and Romita were still doing the strip). It played out pretty much the way it did here, although I remember the spore-influenced John using rather more... final language in conversation with his dad. Instead of merely wanting to "beat the tar" out of Spider-Man, he wanted to "destroy him."

Oh, and the newspaper version wasn't linked to the MJ reveal; in that continuity Peter had met and begun an on-and-off relationship with her a long time ago. In fact, if memory serves me correctly MJ was, at the time (very early 80s), on a long extended-leave from the strip; Peter's girlfriend then was Carole Jennings.

And so Mary Jane saunters on stage and supplants all other Spider-Man love interests with the exception of Black Cat.

What does Betty Brant have? Blaming Spider-Man for her brother's death (and that time in the 80's she was a gun totting vigilante)
What does Gwen Stacey have? Dying.....
What does Deborah Whitman have?......um.....

Hey, he flat out confessed his secret identity to her. She's the one who laughed it off and didn't believe him.

And here I thought the Astartes were a product of genetic manipulation and cybernetic implants rather than space spores. Guess you do learn something every day.
