I'm saying, Cable, we have to go back...to the future!

The X-related scans of the week, both featuring interplay of the present and the future.

First up, Part 2 of "Second Coming" in Uncanny X-Men #523 by Matt Fraction and Terry Dodson.

Cable and Hope have returned to the present. Cable's all-business, but Hope is distracted (as can be seen in the preview, where she's mesmerized by a huge amount of beauty products in a convenience store) by the paradise of consumer goods that is our era, since she grew up travelling through a series of increasingly desolate futurescapes.




Godamnit, do you know how much that stuff costs?

The next day:




The villains show up, of course, but luckily the X-Men alpha team (Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Angel, Colossus, X-23) does as well.



Next up, four from Wolverine: Weapon X #12, by Jason Aaron and Ron Garney, as Wolverine and New Cap take on the Deathloks.


The Deathloks have been sent back in time to kill a bunch of future important people, Terminator-style, trying to eliminate the anonymous "General" commanding the resistance. New Cap is the prime suspect, so they go after him, catching him at a Russian restaurant in New York (he occasionally is overcome with the need to have some shchi. He dodges their guns, but is blown into a subway station.

Meanwhile, Wolverine has been contacted by Miranda, a waitress who keeps getting psychic flashes of future events (she's a badass commando in the future), and warns Logan about the Deathloks' mission.



Logan joins the fight in progress below. One the Deathloks grabs him:




Well that took an oddly philosophical turn.

This being one of her soldiers in the future. Flashforward. And then flashback:



And indeed they have, in the future. To be continued.

Wait, exactly how old is hope now? An approximate guesstimate works for me too.

17-18, I believe.

Uh, didn't she get aged rapidly or something?

technically no... in our time yes, but she grew up normally (its the advantage of time travel) she grew up normally, but to cyclops and the x-men its been...a year?

Actually she did get *rapidly* aged in the future. Hope & Cable kept time hopping to future where she & cable had to get into stasis pods and eject from an exploding space ship to escape Bishop. She looked about 11-13 or so when she got in, when the pods landed back on Earth her body looked as it did currently.

yeah but again...it was relative aging... just because we didnt "See" the years they were traveling (and i do believe Cable said they were traveling for years) doesnt mean they didnt happen. so to US she was aged rapidly (one issue to another) but its still the same as if one issue she is 5 and in the next :

Cable: we have been here for 5 years, no sign of Bishop any where, we might be have found a time he can't follow us to. Damnit there he is, quick Hope!

stasis is not suspended animation (stasis implies something more akin to sleep) Suspended animation is that, suspension of animation (meaning the person does not age but is kept in frozen state.

its probably more scientific but yeah...

So she's old enough to go on outings with X-23 now. It's slightly hypocritical of me to say: "Make this and I'll buy it" , but I can't be the only one who wants to see Laura and Hope as "BBF's".

Finally, Wolverine and Jean Grey can hook up... the next generation.
