Little clippings and then a serious bit at the end.

2 of my favourite panels from books that I picked up this week. The first is from the Jamie McKelvie drawn back up to Invincible Iron Man #33. Like his story in Ultimate Spider-man #150, it's a story told without dialogue. Good Morning Tony was excellent as a short vignette in what being Tony Stark means now and how you can tell the story of his life quickly and easily. Look at all of the information and character that this panel underneath conveys.

If it wasn't for Basri's artwork, I might have dropped Power Girl. I'm not reading Generation Lost, because it doesn't interest me. Except now, it seems that I am reading Generation Lost. Boo.

Still, I do like this picture of Karen getting a hello of a surprise at her desk.

Can we put this"SURPRISE BUTTSECKS!!" joke, which is essentially "she looks like she's being raped up the arse! - lol" out to pasture.

For a start, it's generally poor form to have a rape-lol joke going about in what's supposed to be a safe space.
For another, it's objectifying to assume that only one thing can put a wide eyed and open mouthed expression on a woman's face - theforcible insertion of a foreign object into her rectum.

Or am I being a party pooper?

I think I do

while I see your(stubbleupdate's) point, and you're right that it is kinda icky, we have images of Robin(and other boy wonders) being tied up and all sexed up against their wills all the time, and that's *not* shunned. Matter of fact, it's often applauded.

it seems like a double standard. Are we comfortable with sexual exploitation of one gender, but not the other? I suspect that some people might, in fact, be. But that doesn't really seem fair, or even handed.

That's my takeaway, anyway.

I agree with this. If we're going to declare a moratorium on jokes in poor taste, we have to do it across the board, which will probably spell an end to the 'context is for the weak' running joke.

It certainly would take the wind out of the sails.
