Marvel's "Next Big Thing" Journey into Mystery and the New Mutants cross over!

From Newsarama

The New Mutants in Asgard was one of the best stories the classic series ever had.

So it's hardly surprising that Marvel want to revisit the concept....

The story runs throughout May, and starts with the one-shot Exiled #1, continues into Journey Into Mystery #637, New Mutants #42, Journey Into Mystery #638 and New Mutants #43.

"It really works very, very easy," New Mutants co-writer Andy Lanning says, speaking of the history New Mutants characters have with Asgardians.

Journey Into Mystery writer Kieron Gillen says that the story is an "inversion" of past stories where New Mutants characters live among Asgardians.

This was stuff Kieron has been playing with for a while now," Lanning says.
"There's a long history with the New Mutants in Asgard, and we just really wanted to mess with that, to bring [Asgardians] to Earth rather than have characters travel to Asgard."

Check out the combined covers!

Thor, Hela, the Warriors Three, Sif, the New Mutants, the Disir (at a guess) other Asgardians... Oh THIS should be FUN!

Thor - Look! I have a hammer!

Dani - Look! I have a sword!

Doug - Look! I have a..... baseball bat?

I hope the HellPuppy plays his part, because we can see him there on the cover!

And it's finally hit me what Warlocks appearance there reminds me of...

From one of my all time favourite pieces of musical performance....

Check out the big guy at the start!

Haven't they been doing this since the JMS run, though?

I guess...but isn't Asgard completely closed off after Fear Itself? It just feels like they're trying to market it as a "bold new direction" when they've actually already been doing this for several months at least.
