I loved Jae Lee and Paul Jenkins' Sentry miniseries. Jeff Parker's Age of the Sentry is a piece of joy. Bendis was able to get some really good stuff involving the Sentry in his Avengers run (notably in the Wedding special, and Bob and Norman's heart to heart before getting Five Guys). That said, there has been some rot. The Jenkins/Romita Jr sequel is confusing rubbish and Bendis's use of Sentry in Siege is pretty dreadful.
However, once I saw that he was appearing in Doctor Strange (382-385) I was all up ons.

This story is written by Donny Cates with art by Gabriel Hernandez Walta, who drew Tom King's Vision

The general story is that Strange has lost Sorcerer Supreme-ship to Loki. He is miffed and vows to get his title, his cloak and his house back. He challenges Loki, and in the contest, Loki accidentally kill's Strange's dog (Bats). At this point, Strange decides he needs more firepower, and calls on an old friend. Up a mountain.

Everybody has probably already seen that Loki will be pansexual and genderfluid in Marvel's new anti-hero novel series, but nobody's actually made a post on it.

The author of Marvel’s new three-book historical fiction series has revealed she is planning to write the character Loki as queer.
Author Mackenzi Lee announced the news on Twitter over the weekend, prompting a flood of support from readers excited to see an LGBT+ character portrayed in a mainstream superhero narrative.

When asked whether Loki would be represented as queer in the new novel, YA author Lee replied by saying: “Loki is a canonically pansexual and gender-fluid character. So.”

There has been a bit of whinging from the comic book shithead community, to which author Mackenzi Lee responded

First, it's about time the LGBT+ community was represented in superhero narratives.
Second, in the comics, Loki is reborn as a woman & uses female pronouns & often takes on female forms like the Scarlet Witch and Lady Sif. Odin calls him "my child who is both."

(This is Odin being an uncharacteistically non-shit parent. That's the most controversial part of the whole thing.)

Loki and Thor first meet in The Mighty Thor #3,
where Loki insists he just wants to talk, but Thor knows him better than that! Will this conversation end in peace, or thunder? )

Loki's comic book adventures continue in the Mighty Thor, where he is part of Malekith the Fucking Prick's War of Realms, and Doctor Strange, where he is the Sorcerer Supreme, or something. I'm not reading it.

By the way, how sexual was Loki in the early days of Journey into Mystery?

The fun part of this book was that I originally had developed some of the pitch as a mini-series around Crusher. Just around the time I was getting ready to pitch it to Marvel, editor Wil Moss came to me and said that since I have a background in science fiction and fantasy he was thinking about me for “Black Bolt.” I said, “It’s funny, because I have this back pocket pitch that I was going to send you.”

Then when we bounced these things off of each other they just immediately meshed. That’s where this story came from. So Crusher predates Black Bolt as far as Marvel characters I’ve wanted to write about. He’s a hero to me, even if he’s a villain.

"You know, I’ve always loved the Old Man Logan story. That’s a beauty. Maybe in 20 years time I’ll just pop up and do that one." - Hugh Jackman, 2014

As you may or may not have heard, the upcoming 'Logan' film is loosely inspired by the storyline 'Old Man Logan', a comic that Hugh Jackman had been hoping to adapt for years. Everything indicates that the similarities will likely be thematic for obvious reasons (99% of the major characters couldn't appear in a Fox film) but if you wanted to see the launching pad for the film here it is.

Warning: This is pretty gory.

Following the request for some upbeat What if...? stories, I submit this reposting from over 6 years ago (Good grief, I've been here a long time!!!)

The cover alone convinced me that this was likely to be an interesting alternate world! :D

At the end of the Asgardian Wars Loki gave the X-Men and New Mutants a choice, stay in Asgard and keep all that they had achieved there, all the new lives and new loves they had found, and in the case of Storm, powers returned to her, or return to Earth as they had been before they arrived; Storm would be powerless, Magma would be human instead of the elf-form the elven folk had curssed her with, and so on (The only exception he made, out of narrative necessity courtesy, was that Karma would NOT be returned to the grotesquely obese form her time under the control of the Shadow King had given her). The choice HAD to be unanimous though

Of course, in the mainstream MU, the choice to return to was made, but this IS a "What if...?"

...all things are possible )
