Slaughter Swamp being named after a slaughter house does actually make a degree of sense, though if it's warm enough for alligators wouldn't the humidity make the meat go weird?
At first I'd assumed the slaughterhouse boss was Gold, and he was going to be Solomon Grundy. That he worked the men to death, then butchered/sold their bodies for meat, and their families found out and killed him but he came back as some sort of super-ghoul.
Is this really better than the old Cyrus Gold origin? Or is it (par for the DCnU) just darker and grimmer (and of course plain old nastier) just for the sake of it?

What actually bugs me, weirdly enough, is that his name is actually Solomon now.
