Captain America vs. The Internet!

Greetings True Believers! Once again we must look to the world of Marvel Adventures for the truth. In these scans from Marvel Adventures #12 Cap and Rick Jones battle Hydra on their website hydraforamerica.com. Cap has returned from the ice and he's in the media 24/7 and Steve asks Rick to explain all this "teleovideo" nonsense. Rick introduces Cap to the internet and he asks if it can tell him anything about Hydra. They log on to Hydra's site but oh no! Hydra command hacks their webcam and hits them with a matter translation beam and now Cap and Jones must battle their way through a "Web of Deceit" Enjoy!

Rick and Cap battle emoticon Hydra goons, Hydra's merchandise page and Hydra's web mascot Hydra Boy!

While Cap battles Hydra Boy, Rick is searching for a way off the site. This page made me LOL!

Cap is trapped in Hydra's sinister "web" when RJ rescues him with his search engine-engine!

Now I want a panel of Cap saying, "Thank you Japanese Bunny-Girl!"

Now we see Cap's mad-face and Hydra Boy fucks up real bad.

SHIELD rescues Cap and Rick. Awesome! As usual, MA makes everything all better. Oh and Sally Floyd? Here's what Cap thinks of the internet.

Any more questions for your next hit-piece? I thought not.

"You are already dead! ...For about another week, anyway."

Oh, Cap. ♥

I love Captain America in any form, but MA makes everything about ten bazillion times cooler. X3

Hydraboy looks way too much like Ambush Bug.

I wanted to make a semi-topical joke on internet censorship too, but eh.

Hah! Eat it Sally Floyd.

I'd say "the internet does not work that way", but it's only a mild case, certainly not any worse than most depictions.

I liked this one. Particularly when Rick's trying to shill the Internet as meaningful and awesome and Cap looks over someone's shoulder and reads out loud "Stupidest Poodle Tricks?"

Down with Net Neutrality!

OK, this was pretty cool. Based on my personal experiences with them, I would've made those trolls considerably grosser-looking, but the smiley heads were an inspired touch, I must admit. And I loved the Japanese hacker and her freaky bunny hoodie.

Those trolls! In future I shall try to imagine all web trolls looking that way, and it shall make life better.

That was a story both good and fun.

Is that Marvel Adventures "Avengers" or "Superheroes"?

[identity profile] his_spiffyness.insanejournal.com 2009-06-27 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
So, since the sidekick saves the day with a train, does that mean Hydra got Rickrolled?

[identity profile] crinosg.insanejournal.com 2009-06-27 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
....OUCH.

ooh, ten point penalty for you mister, no punning with the ball.

Since it's sorta relevant, here's We Didn't Start the Flame War (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QyYaPWasos&feature=player_embedded) (NSFW)

Betamax? Hydra Boy doesn't know history, but that's to be expected...
Try 35mm, black and white.

Oh, and he REALLY shouldn't have pushed Cap's Bucky-shaped Berserk Button there.

Cap always did have an optimistic view of the internet. There's a Daredevil/Cap teamup where they fight...hackers..and HYDRA..or something..and Cap waxes poetic about all the opportunities the internet provides. Daredevil bitches about everything that could go wrong, naturally.

I was hoping the trolls to look more like Chad Warden. That should have been one of the video's Cap seen and get scared that modern language consist of BALLIN, APAP, PSTRIPLE, GAY NIGGAS, ect.
