Did Wolverine just walk out of the ocean, or did someone from the Hand grab him in a boat? 'Cause I thought he was pretty susceptible to drowning.

Also, how did the Hand kill him in the first place?

I believe someone stabbed him through the heart, which made him black out, and they were able to kill him while he was unconscious.

Gorgon stabbed him through the back (not heart unless his mutation shifted it into his stomach) and he blacked out while Gorgon was holding the sword up to strike.
