The Clone Conspiracy: The Night I Died

These are a few pages from the Gwen Stacy story from the first issue of 'The Clone Conspiracy'.

'Gwen' wakes up in the Jackal's lab. He tells her about his plans for bringing people back to life but she I said unsure until he takes her to see a familiar face.

So Gwen's sitting there, kidnapped by a lunatic, and all she can think of is "PETER LIED TO ME?"

I'm not sure she's supposed to come across quite so awful, but she does to me.

wasnt in kurt busiek and alex ross Marvels, when Phil Sheldon interviewed her, she realized that spidey wasnt at fault for her father death, this happened on the same day she was kidnapped.

Miles Warren didn't kidnap her in this case.

Plus Gwen wasn't exactly honest herself, given how she used to sleep with said kidnapping lunatic and had his kids.

I admit I don't remember the timeline Sins Past presented, but Marvel.com says Gwen and Peter were together at the time.

I'm not trying to slut-shame Gwen here, merely pointing out she hadn't been completely forthright either.

Can we just sweep that piece of shit under the rug and then stamp on it quite vigorously?

I'm glad that's the only thing the three of them have to talk about.....

Miles: My evil plan is working now to ask her on a date.

Okay, we KNEW they couldn't do this story without including a Gwen Clone somewhere. My question no is... wasn't there some other Gwen Clone running around somewhere that survived the Clone Saga?

Do you think that would Jackal bother with bringing back dead Clones, like Joyce or Ben Reilly?

You know, all things considered, I could easily stand to never see another retread of the "Jackal clones Gwen Stacy" plotline.

It feels like the Jackal's main move at this point, and the simple truth of Gwen Stacy is that she's dull as dishwater. Especially when she's appearing the role of Spidey's great, perfect, unblemished, long lost love, cruelly ripped from him by an unjust world.

That's why she died in the first place

Of course, there's no telling how much of Gwen's memories can be trusted. Who knows if Warren didn't modify them somehow while she was in the tank?

So... comic book deaths. They're a joke, pretty much, to the point that even the characters themselves kind of roll their eyes at the concept.

At Marvel, as I recall, there were two untouchables when it came to undoing deaths: Uncle Ben and Gwen Stacy.

That said, where does cloning fall into this? I'm sure that along the lines, some resurrections have been through cloning, have they not?

So would a clone of either of those two be a violation of the whole "never bring those two back" rule?

I don't know if it truly counts here, but Bucky and Jason Todd were also considered untouchable before they were brought back.

Is that Ron Frenz doing a tribute/homage to Ross Andru?
