I wonder if this is when they realized that Jean's late stage X-Factor costume made her look too much like Firestar. The introduction of the 90s costume is just over the horizon after this issue.
Ororo - "I wonder if our plan to fake our own deaths and hide in Australia was a bad Idea?"
Scott - "Well, as you left the New Mutants completely unprotected just after the death of one of their own, encouraging Magneto to go off the rails AND left all the old villains still running around.. if it hadn't been for the fact my plan to have X-factor pretend to be mutant hunters led to at least one teenage suicide that we know, I'd say it was the worst plan EVER!"
-"Splintered into a handful of teams - running all over the map, no focus, less direction, half the time doing your enemies' job for them."-
This might sound like the conspiracy ravings of a fan who's reading too much into a scene, but no-one else is sensing any subtext in what Cable's saying? Criticism of what was happening in New Mutants and X-Factor? (And Storm's comment about Cable being the real problem, not Magneto kiiinda sounds like a comment on the increasing popularity of the 90s Anti-Hero Liefeld and the like were creating.)

Yeah, poor Jubilee, having to wear that yellow and blue number, instead of her big yellow coat and bright blue shorts.
I can see her complaining about it, but the colour really shouldn't be the sticking point.

Also, gosh, early Cable's an arsehole.
