In Fair New York, New York

Where we lay our scene

Two Houses

Each alike in comic book drama

Where weird and dramatic comic book continuity make civil hands unclean

For never was there a story of less fun

Than of Janice Lincoln

And Randy Robertson

Dangit, you beat me to it.

I had to do it given that the solicits are pushing the Romeo and Juliet angle

Really, that play only ends that badly because most of the characters involved are either idiot teens or wildly irresponsible adults.

Its not as if Marvel still writes Peter and friends - who should be in their late 20s or early 30s - as stupid hormonal children.

Oh no!

But what are the odds that something tragic and unfortunate will happen to people that Peter Parker cares about >.>

Hahahaha, nicely put!

Ooof.

Those two have uh... a bit of a history. (the daddies, not the lovers)

[personal profile] tinygaylaura 2021-03-25 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean one or more of the lovers might also call the other daddy, don't kinkshame them

I'm kicking myself for forgetting that Robbie and Tombstone have a massive history together. Holy snacks, this is going to be fun.

The most murder-y kind of history

Finally. I've been waiting for this shoe to drop forever.

Though I actually wonder how they kept it secret this long in our current surveillance state. What's that Matt Wagner quote about how most fictional characters really only work in their original time period and the idea that, say, Batman could have a secret identity in the present day is ridiculous?

Speaking of giving historical context to comics, I can't help but think about all the Spider-Man stories that revolve around "the shock of finding out this secret would kill May/Betty/Gwen/Jonah/ect". Meanwhile Glory just drops a bombshell on her boss' desk and stands there. Did Robbie do something to upset her?

Glory: I like for the way I break bad news to people to feel both deeply traumatic and also be so casual that they might wonder if I even remember their name

He was also worried about Betty and Gwen finding out ... what with him constantly getting their loved ones killed. Betty took the Civil War reveal pretty well, all things considered.

Jonah OTOH had a heart attack.

And Harry ... well, we all know how that went. Mental health is still physical health.

Indeed in Peter's defence there was usually at least one "Aunt May is at deaths door, a stiff breeze may finish her off" story every couple of years back in the early days of the series

Heck, didn't Glory and Robbie's son whose name escapes me currently actually date at one point?

Yeah. Randy was also with Norah very briefly. Its good to be the boss' son, I guess.

You can say he lives up to his name, perhaps?

*shrug* He's got nothing on Peter or Flash.

Or May.

[personal profile] tinygaylaura 2021-03-26 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly I'd be less upset about him dating a wanted super-criminal who is also the daughter of a crime lord who terrorised me for years than I would about the possibility of having Norah Winters as a daughter in law...

"Don't want to spoil it for you" is a little ambiguous, but I have to assume she didn't look at the folder's contents before handing it to Robbie, because... well, I started to say "nothing else would make sense," but this is a land of Skrull impersonators and life model decoys, after all. But even here, Occam's razor still applies.

"I did some digging and I found some surveillance photos that I deliberately chose not to look at until this particular moment. Wish I had some coffee to sip as I did so right now..."

The comedy spit-take is a lost art

Gone the way of the pie in the face and people with confusing names being on first base
