The Last Page Of Fury Of Firestorm The Nuclear Men

Fury Of Firestorm The Nuclear Men #1 has two distinctions.

1. It has the longest title of the reboot.

2. The last page is arguably dumber than the last page of Batman: The Dark Knight.

One page under the cut.

WE ARE FURIOUS FURY THE FURY OF FURY

Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; also, Voodoo #1 was surprisingly good. It definitely did "sexy" better than either Catwoman #1 or Red Hood and the Outlaws #1 . . . not that that would be hard in the latter case.

...I don't get it, what's stupid about this? We kinda knew about Fury for a while.

I'd rather have read the Clevinger comic.

Much as I normally like Simone's work I would have gladly replaced her with Clevenger. The man is such a perfect fit for the concept it's tragic.
Maybe a mini someday?

I actually kinda liked this issue.

also yeah...i really thought Voodoo was going tobe a surprise... mainly because yes it was going for sexy, but i also felt very meta. it felt... more... artful i guess. like it was sexy, but there was a point to it... if that at all makes sense (and i know it probably won't i;m fighting a cold here...)

What place does Voodoo have in DCU now? I guess they will work the Daemonites into continuity now.

Have to disagree with you on this, aside from the villains being rather OTT in a sort of "Aren't we're ruthless bastards? All that we haven't done this issue is stomp on fluffy kittens. Mwahh-ha-ha-ha!" I enjoyed it.

Yes, Fury is clearly not the brightest proton in the nucleus, but with showing only one page taken out of context, I think you're missing out showing that that's sort of the point. He's the insanely dangerous combination of the two Firestorms (and given his personality, ) He's what they'll both want to avoid becoming, but until they know about their nature, he's going to be a threat within them.

This doesn't shock me, the writer also handles the surprisingly-tasteful Witchblade.

Funnily enough, Marz is actually wrapping up his run on Witchblade right now. I found it quite odd that the covers we've seen for Voodoo have her powers looking oddly similar to those of the character leading the book he's known for.

But they should totally fight one.

I'll be honest, I'm not that impressed. The story tended more toward the confusing than the intriguing, and the villains seemed to largely be evil-for-evil's-sake more than anything else. The boys' personal conflict seemed really awkward and some of it came out of nowhere for me.

All in all, the whole thing came off as haphazard and rushed. I doubt I'll be getting #2.

I couldn't find any reason Ronnie and Jason would even meet, to be honest, much less build up all this tension.

And Ronnie is now uninteresting & shallow, and Jason is self-important and insufferable. I don't think likable characters always have to be the center of a story.

But in THIS kind of story? Uh, yeah, if you want me to read #2. And won't.

Yeah, this isn't quite as bad as "You didn't push that dude out the window but you didn't stop the guy doing it, but neither did I and I'm in a better position to shoot the villain, and I'm still going to blame you" whilst Batgirl stands there uselessly going "NOESSSSS"

I hate how they have completely tossed the close friendship of Ronnie and Professor Stein.

I hate that they got rid of the "two minds, one body, one person as the driver, the other the brains" concept.

I hate how they deaged the characters.

I hate how stereotypical the villains were, to the extent that the only bad thing they didn't do was drown a litter of puppies.

I hated the stupid hulked-out...whatever that was.

In short, things better get fucking better.

Hey, can't use up all your characterization in the first issue.

Seems to be. I mean, they barely introduce us to this new situation when all of a sudden, THIS. This is the sort of thing that waits till at least the third issue, for god's sake.

It seems so impatient that it's completely impossible to follow. And motivation? What's that?

I'm very surprised this is Simone. Really.

Well, they certainly couldn't wait to get past the setup. So they skipped it completely.

I read this. I won't be again.
