Gail Simone takes the UK

Gail Simone is writing the newest volume of the Uncanny X-Men, and also currently writing Superman for Action Comics. As if working for the US's Big Two wasn't enough, last month she also did her first work for UK publisher Rebellion, writing three of the four stories for this year's Misty special.
Misty was a UK "girls' comic" from the late seventies, envisioned by developer Pat Mills as a "female 2000ad". While it did not have the longevity of that other title, it has been revived for regular specials in recent years.
I think that Ms Simone has been saving up Britishisms for the writing of these tales; get yer bingo cards out. I think 'wanker' is the only one that didn't get used, probably since that would actually be too offensive for a comic on WH Smiths' high street shelves!

The Variants #1

"It's a funny thing, but in my career, I have always been attracted most to the characters that I felt, rightly or wrongly, were at a bit of a low point in their characterization or visibility. In short, I like to try to polish up characters a little bit when they hadn't had the spotlight they deserve for a while. With Jessica Jones, that just wasn't the case. She's pretty much always been handled immaculately, first by her creator, Brian Bendis, and then by brilliant writers like Kelly Thompson. So she was never really on my radar in the same way that some of the other characters I love have been. She just was already in the best possible hands.
What appealed to me upon second read was, she's one of the few ongoing characters who has been allowed to evolve in a naturalistic way. Read her first stories up to her more recent ones, and it feels like every event she's experienced has made her better and even more vibrant. That's rare with these characters. They often go from reboot to reboot without a thought. Jessica had a LIFE that she's lived." -- Gail Simone

"Our story is about a town, a small town, and the people who live in the town, including an earnest ginger, who is sort of in love with two girls. From a distance, this town presents itself like so many other small towns all over the world: safe, decent, innocent. Get closer, though, and you start seeing the shadows, specifically the long, dark shadow of the Dragonfly." - Gail Simone

Wonder Woman/Conan (5 issues out of 6)

I'm genuinely very fond of this story. The writing is excellent, so is the art, and its ending left me feeling very satisfied. I highly recommend it.
However, it was very difficult to decide which pages to post. Because, while I really loved this story as a whole, I can't really think of any specific individual scenes that really convey its quality. This is one of those stories with a solid premise, solid gradual build-up, and solid conclusion; but all of those parts of the whole don't look nearly as effective when taken on their own.
This is also why I'm not going to post any scans from the very final issue. Though, if you are sure you are not interested in reading the whole thing, I can tell you how it ends in the comments.
I hope you enjoy it :)

So, it looks like issues 12 and 13 of Tony Stark: Iron Man are just going to be a fill-in War of the Realms tie-in. But hey, everyone wants to see more of Dr. Shapiro, the talking cat, yes?

"There is a panel in Domino six that I was 100% certain would never get through and now I just stare at it in my print copies because it makes me so happy that it did. Thanks, @marvel!"
