Krypto vs. Atlas!

This is from Superman #679-680. It's written by  James Robinson and  illustrated by Renato Guedes.

At the end of #679, Atlas (working with someone later to be revealed as Sam Lane) has challenged and defeated Superman.

Before you go any further, you should read the first few pages of Krypto's battle with Atlas over here.

The energy hitting Krypto is something that weakens Kryptonians.

Superman runs off and gets Zachary Zatara to give him some magical protection, and then he returns and finishes off Atlas. Everyone starts cheering for him.

Uhm, yeah Supes is saying that.

As far as the dog behavior goes, when a dog is attacking it's not going to look pretty and heroic. They are trying to tear their prey into shreds.

For me that made the story play out more realistically than if it was portrayed as clean and controlled.

It's like that time he attack Mongul and almost killed him by bitting him at the neck.

Superman was the one going "OMFG! he's gona kill someone."
And Lois going"He saved my life!"
