Really, the only consideration was making it a funny line, clearly, but, two comments:
1) It actually isn't terribly unreasonable to believe he's never seen a personal computer. He grew up in the Monitor's satellite, and it's not impossible that he never peeked in on someone using a PC in the 5 years they were trapped. The Bat-computer, the JLA's computer banks, that big holographic array Oracle had...he's almost guaranteed to have caught them...but a PC...it's not hard to believe they never thought to watch anyone who was busy at one.
2) Conversely, he could be an ubergeek. And geeks frequently refer to computers as boxes.
