All-New X-Men #19

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

All she did was destroy a poisonous cloud!

Later, Beast takes the rest of the time-displaced X-Men back to their past.

Pretty sure that adult Cyclops was a "villain" before that cloud thing. Isn't that kinda the whole reason they're here in the first place?

I thought they just followed their mentor Kitty after the Battle of the Atom debacle.

They still had disagreements with him though.

So we're stuck with them (gotta keep things complicated) and Emma Frost is totally a super duper villain now! Ugh.

Though this means they aren't the OG X-Men of the 616.

I'll admit that I'm not interested, and of course your right about being complicated, but I'm actually glad they resolved this. It was always the most frustrating part of them, aside from some debatable character stuff and Bobbygate.

Pity about Emma, though.

Here's the thing about these characters. I was never bothered by them at all, but when Marvel is trying to restart or make things fresh again with X-Men, it would feel like a better idea to send them home. I just don't get why Marvel can't get rid of them, since things are just so overcomplicated with them now. There's no point to them anymore and nothing that you can do besides to a Legion Lost story.

It does raise an interesting question, though (unless they addressed it already): If this Bobby is gay, that doesn't mean the modern Bobby is, does it?

Probably depends on what the divergence point was between the timelines.

If it was the O5 falling into the 616 then both Bobbys are gay... except if dimension travel can change people's orientations now. If it was something earlier then the farther back in the past it is the more likely the differences become.

"All she did was destroy a poisonous cloud!"

Wasn't it Medusa that did that? Emma was the one that used her powers to force Forge to create anti Inhuman Sentinels.

Which is pretty out of character for Emma Frost.

Yeah, I thought she killed a bunch of innocent (as in, not royal family) Inhumans.
thehood: (Default)

[personal profile] thehood 2017-03-29 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's why people are mad at her, it's not about the cloud.
cyberghostface: (Default)

[personal profile] cyberghostface 2017-03-29 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
The cloud was the main reason Cyclops was viewed as Mutant Hitler because "muh Inhuman culture".
thehood: (Default)

[personal profile] thehood 2017-03-29 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
The first cloud, right.
cyberghostface: (Default)

[personal profile] cyberghostface 2017-03-29 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
And that's one of the reasons why Cyclops is angry. That Emma made him think that he was destined to destroy the cloud.

Emma did commit some light genocide, which is kind of a big deal. That doesn't mean she's responsible for "every bit of what happened with the Inhumans", because she didn't create a couple of death clouds, and it's a bit insane of Cyclops to suggest it.

Except nobody has yet been able to explain why that course action could possibly paint older Cyclops as some sort planetary level pariah. The extent of his actions was that he destroyed a cloud which was actively KILLING and or sterilising mutants, Yes, Alchemy died, but he was a volunteer.

Fuck this shit.

Someone needs to explain exactly what he thinks Cyclops did wrong exactly. Like point it fucking out. Because this garbage literally makes no sense.

[personal profile] mrstatham 2017-03-29 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
They can't. Because then they'd have to admit they just made this shit up and actively expected more people to embrace the Inhumans, because Cyclops did nothing wrong, except, you know, the standard 'try to save and train my people after a horrible event' thing.

Part of me wonders if they actually planned for any fallout and if the "Terrigen Mists are making Inhumans and killing mutants" was Marvel's way of easing out the X-Men.

I remember reading a report (this was before the storyline started) that the X-Men would end up moving to another planet/world as a result and be completely separated from the MU.

I think it was just a rumor, though.

Cyclops - demonized for making the hard choices to keep everyone alive and protect his people since 1964.

Don't get me wrong, the guy is an asshole in his love life, but.. Yeah. I'd say that is pretty much the case. They do say 'hated and feared', though...

[personal profile] mastermahan 2017-03-29 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Cyclops has done some seriously dickish, morally ambiguous things over the course of his life. Destroying a murder cloud wouldn't have been one of them even if he had done it.

Emma used her powers to force Forge to make Sentinels, so it is different.

Though still very out of character.

oh I know. but it's totally against here character, just as much as it was against scott's character to become Mutant Hitler.

Luckily they were unable to establish Cyclops as a villain in Death of X, but Emma will not be able to come back from her mass murder at the end of IvX. :( They went full retard with last ish of IvX. It was exciting to read but not really Emma-like.

[personal profile] balbanes 2017-03-30 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Hold up. Adult Scott is a villain for supposedly destroying the first cloud. Even though everyone-- mutants and inhumans both-- agreed it was the right thing to do in destroying the second (last!) cloud.

I don't get it.
