Cyclops didn't actually DO ANYTHING, Emmas mirage of CYCLOPS didn't DO ANYTHING, Black Bolt released the Terrigen clouds and DID kill Cyclops, even if it was indirect. There is some fairly obvious legal culpability there.
And why are the Nuhumans even on the Inhumans side?? I can see that the actually born and raised Inhumans may consider their culture and powers more important than the lives of a bunch of foreigners they don't know at all.
But why does people like Kamala, Nur, Moon Girl, Inferno etc who only found out recently that they were Inhumans have such an attachment to their terrigenesis that they are willing to support a genocide over it. They've never seemed the "easy genocide" sort of characters.
For whatever reason, the X-Men haven't told anyone about Beast's discovery that the Mists are going to blanket the entire Earth and render the planet deadly to mutants. I imagine if the Nuhumans knew, it might change things.
Even if they don't know that, Synapse said the cloud should be burned from the sky, and Moon Girl wants to reverse her terrigenesis and find a cure for the mutants.
It doesn't say anything about the X-Men Scott. All it means is that a lot of people are very, very stupid.
I'm really tired of Marvel writers pretending that being hated by the general public is a valid source of angst for superheroes. Being a superhero in the Marvel universe for more than five minutes should by all accounts inoculate you from giving a shit about whatever dumbass shit the civvies think.
This. It was quite charming and silly to have Spider-Man 'hated' in the 60's, but at this point, the citizens of the Marvel Universe should be spending every waking minute praising these people whatever bullshit is threatening to destroy their lives this week.
Really. They're preposterously unappreciative. If I were Spider-Man, at this point I'd have thrown up my hands and told them to handle the situation, next time.
As readers, we're privy to a lot more information than your average Marvel civilian. Maybe they should consider something more "on the ground" that covers this sort of stuff from their point of view, that might actually be able to rationalize why they behave this way, even if not justify it.
And, the thing is, mutants and specifically Scott have spent a fair amount of time popular too. They aren't just being unappreciative by habit, it's a reaction that is out of the worst periods of the mutant's public image.
I wonder how much of the pro-Inhuman arguments are mandated by Perlmutter and co. or if the writers actually want us to think "Yes this is a morally ambiguous situation".
I don't really know how much say Perlmutter has in these things anymore. I could understand it while he had some say in the movies - I don't think it's any mistake this Inhuman stuff all seems to be coming to a boil after we've been told they're not going to have a movie - but didn't Feige basically get Disney to have him back off/reassigned? I'm not sure.
I hope she just blast his mind with Right!Clops memories. Make him see everything from Second Coming onward from his adult self's perspective and then we will see how he feels.
This stupid shit is the one thing keeping me from bonding with Tyke. Like if Tyke doesn't like how Cyke did things then fine I can live with that, but Tyke being fed all these half truths and bullshit from everyone around him drives me nuts.
Actually, yeah. That would be ideal. But they're not going to do that. This is their reset button to claw cyclops back to who they want him to be, with none of his adult complexity left intact.
Dennis Hopeless is the worst of them all when it comes to getting Cyclops right. Otherwise Young!Cyclops has been well enough to read. His own series with Corsair was especially good.
Seconding Tugrul. Cyclops was irreparably tarnished since they brought Jean back and started his marital problems with Maddie. I have argued til I was blue in the face but it doesn't restore his integrity.
Don't despair. My experience is that, as much as I want villain Emma back, as dumb as I think the 'good' characterization is, it will always be a bait and switch. She will be revealed in the end to be a Misunderstood Hero.
This seems like a set up for Marvel's Civil War III. No, really, it does. I hope I am wrong, but it does seem like the set up to a massively divisive multicrossover event where heroes arbitrarily are assigned a "side" to support.
Y'know, the reasons are bullshit, but the dynamic I find actually... Vaguely interesting. Scott having a huge grudge against his future self's former lover is just such a comic-book thing... They could do something fun with that.
I think she will become more prominent but I'm holding out high hopes it doesn't come to everyone having to take down big boss Emma. Because I would root for her.
Also, how lame that this issue is released before event main title #4. These are a lot of spoilers here and the same creative team for All-New X-Men #17, same title, issue before, where Young!Bobby and Romeo run off during the first attack has Bobby standing with the rest of the O5!
This weeks Jay and Miles X-Plain the X-Men includes the un-bleeped out version of Dennis Hopeless's explanation for the Cyclops "Noodle Incident", and it's.... not what anyone was expecting.

That's majorly screwed up.
