I find it interesting how non-stereotypical Jose and Panchito are. Considering we were getting Speedy Gonzales cartoons well into the 1970s, it's pleasantly surprising to see these guys. I mean, they're broadly-drawn cartoons, but based on what I've seen I wouldn't say they're racial or cultural stereotypes. Unless there's a Mexican stereotype about wildly ebullient and sociable gunslingers that I haven't heard about.
