I always wanted to give the franchise as much depth and weight as possible. One of the easiest ways to do that is to politicise it. -- James Roberts

Meanwhile, elsewhere, regular reality's Anode is explaining just what that means:

This is an excellent arc, and series, overall.

But for some reason, that panel with 'Rod and Ratchet justifies *everything*

I 100% think this is the best story arc that MTMTE/Lost Light have done, ever. I think this might even be the most powerful story arc that Transformers comics have done too. It is powerful stuff.

Although I also do love that the result of finding in a parallel universe is a bout of squealing giddily and running around. TF comics, and MTMTE/LL in particular, always find time to mix a bit of comedy in with the heavy stuff. It just works.

This looks like a job for Megatron.

Ratchet's "I am so done with this shit, why did I come back" expression is amazing.

Given some of the other details we discover about Anode in the latest story arc, Functionist-verse Anode is actually even more interesting and impressive. She's not just a member of a high social class that did what she thought was right, she's had her body modified (A concept the Functionists have to despise) to match her gender identity. Everything about that version of her is a form of rebellion.

In fairness though, there's no indication that the functionalists care about gender one way or the other. Anode still has her flight alt-mode, after all.

More than that, the Council are utter hypocrites. So long as she can help develop proto forms, she could probably assume any alt mode she wanted.

Though she's far more moral than mainstream Anode ;)

The recent issues had Anode and Lug talk about the gender issue with an old colleague of theirs, making it clear that even before the war, gender was an alien concept to most Cybertronians, even though their language still had the words for it. I was thinking about it, and it occurred to me that the loss of gender, and the attempts to recover it via Arcee, took place somewhere around the age of the 13 Primes, along with the later rise of Nova Prime. It makes perfect sense to me that the Functionists, or whatever movement would later become the Functionists, would definitely try and wipe out a concept they saw as having no use.
