The whole superhero community should be hated for this reason.

I remember this one time the X-men fought this guy who was actually mutated by radiation... and he was a crippled malformed guy stuck in a wheelchair, like how radiation works in real life, and he was jealous of the X-men for being sexy super heroes with incredible powers.

Well, there's that one sequence from Ultimate Spider-Man where he responds with: "God! You know why people hate you? It's not because you're mutants!! It's because you're all a bunch of @#$@#$ $@$%@ ##@$!! That's why!! You $^$%^ $%^% $^$%^ $%#^%#$ $%^#$%^ $%%^!!!"

Yeah, I don't know. The way most superhero comics are drawn they only appeal to people turned on to particularly triangular sacks of mashed potatoes.

I believe that's from Warren Ellis' run, though I'm not sure which issue(s)...

I believe that was after he discovered Jean Grey had body swapped him with Wolverine to teach Wolverine a lesson (Peter hadn't done shit to deserve this) -so yea- perfectly fair reaction really.

Yeah, I'm not into the beefy roid rager look. And from what I remember, a a sizeable portion of the Supers community has malformed feet.

I liked that when Rogue was introduced she wasn't particularly pretty, and her costume was a cowled, gloved jumpsuit that was anything but revealing. Of course, they gave her the movie librarian treatment once she'd been a heroic character for a while—suddenly more curves, softer facial features, long flowing hair.

The "eXogenetic" storyline, from Astonishing X-Men vol.03:nos.31-35, Dec 2009-Oct 2010. Yup, Warren Ellis.

Or Jubilee, who actually expressed jealousy over the curves other women had, becoming a voluptuous bombshell during her New Warriors stint.

The only characters that I have seen portrayed consistently without the standard "Comic Book Woman" body have been Kitty Pryde (who varies from slim to a "mere" c-cup with some artists), elderly people (aunt May) and FatWoman of the Great Lakes Avengers, because that is her story angle.*

Literally every other female super hero is differentiated by costume and hair style and color.

Yeah, apparently this guy was a genius at age 16 and developed all sorts of technology like zombie sentinels and Brood based bio weapons and stuff.

You know he 's not super powered, but apparently he had something going on.

You get the feeling that if you implied he had " super-intelligence " around him, he'd hiss.

Or laugh bitterly.

That tends to happen alot. When marrow was initially introduced she was pretty gruesome as well, she was balding and she had bones coming out her face at odd angles. Then when she joined the X men and became Wolverine Light she became pretty, and more human looking (but still tough and badass), then later she went into a cocoon and came out beautiful, but I don't think that change stuck.

Then we had Karma. There was a point where everyone thought Karma was dead, but it turns out she was possessed by the Shadow King, so used her body to indulge in gluttony and become a massive obese blob. And the instant she gets free and rejoins the team... they all get blasted to Asgard and she spends weeks in a desert where she sweats off all that fat and becomes basically Xena. Its almost like editorial was like "Okay, Chris, we can't have a good guy whose an uggo, so figure out a way to make Karma hot again or write her out of the story." and Chris was already planning the trip to Asgard, so it was a perfect opportunity.

Big Bertha is the name of the obese woman in the GLA.

Its interesting because she actually has the power to control her body mass, and can make herself thin, and she works as a super model. But in the most recent Great Lakes Avengers run, she decided to say in fat mode 24/7 and rebuild her career as a model from the ground up as a plus size model (Unfortunately the only work she could get on camera was for a diet pill advertisement who wanted her as the "before" girl, and its even worse because it was a front by a mad scientist who wanted to steal her DNA to create a drug which would give people her powers. Comics everybody!)

Well to put it in perspective, According to Death Battle, Tony Stark graduated MIT at the age of 19. Kaga (the radiation mutant) was selling patents and building life saving tech to keep himself alive at 16.

So the dude is already in the Tony Stark range. That isn't anything to sneeze at.

DOCTOR: Why did they call him Spider-Man? Don't they like him?
YOUNG GRANT: He was bitten by a radioactive spider, and guess what happened?
DOCTOR: Radiation poisoning, I should think.
YOUNG GRANT: No, he got special powers.
DOCTOR: What, vomiting, hair loss and death? Fat lot of use.

Given how off-model Jubilee and Beak were in New Warriors, I can only assume that them getting boob and nose-jobs (respectively) was part of how they were dealing with the trauma of losing their powers on M Day.

Nah, the mutant double standard will always be a thing because Marvel civilians are the worst.

There's an issue of Gen X where Skin deals someone he was bitten by a radioactive elephant because some drowning person can't handle the thought of being saved by a mutant.
