Actually that Marvel Zombies was about the Midnight Sons hunting down zombies that had slipped into 616 so same chicken man or a legacy chicken man.

What I remember of the chickenman I saw, was pretty similar costume to the badass one, but with the chicken-comb. So could be same chicken man, but he took off the comb, finally.

His name is Black Talon, if I remember correctly, and they kinda exaggerated his, eh, chicken-headedness for this story. He normally doesn't look anywhere near that silly.
Black roosters are an important ceremonial bird in voodoo practices. It does actually make sense, but I think it falls under the category of 'would probably be a bit creepier in person than on the printed page'.
