For someone who isn't a Bart Allen super-specialist, this seems like a very good characterisation. And his thought process is so fun. Is it just me, or does Lobdell like have fun with the lettering? The notFlash titles here, the difference between the lettering for Ducra in Outlaws...

I don't think you get to complain about how, if you sidekicked to the Flash, you'd just be "NotFlash" or "MiniFlash" when the name you actually chose is KIDFLASH.

I mean, if you went with Impulse, great, that line works. Otherwise, it just sounds stupid.

(And "Who Sidekicks anymore?" Superheroes have only been around 5 years, I'm not sure thats enough time for sidekicking to have come in and out of fashion)

I thought of that, but I still don't think it quite works, because you'd have to have had enough kid sidekicks for it to become a fad in the first place.

Have there even been any in the new DCU, aside from Robin?

All right, if the Crisis on Infinite Earths never happened and Iris and Barry never married, how the heck does Bart exist? In fact, does Barry even know about Bart?

Lobdell seems to get the male characters pretty well, this sounds like Bart. Though it looks like they got rid of his gold eyes.

I'm still on the fence what they did to Kiran. I'm hoping her powers shift to what we know and back and forth to her new smoke form according to the moon or something, to coincide with her 'solstice' name, werewolfy type phenomenon. I know Lodbell is wanting to do more 'unhuman' looking people since he said he had a problem of them all being attractive anglos, but why they had to do that to an already unique minority character is beyond me.

Based on how the Flash creative team talks about it in interviews, I strongly suspect they don't know either, either because they're waiting for word from higher up or because they haven't committed to a decision yet and are keeping their options open till then.

Art is STRANGE. It CAN look good. There are some panels of both Cassie and Tim out of costume that look great, age appropriate, but then there are others where they just look BAD.

Bart beating the guards, or him just sitting in the cell, his build, that looks great, but then you get to some other characters and WOW that's not....right. It seems to be more girls than the guys though, mostly terms of faces being a bit weird. The way the artist does mouths/faces can be off. Sometimes it looks great, sort of manga-style crossed with western but then other times, ouch, Brett what were you thinking. Props to him drawing Wonder Girl stalking Tim in the clothing store in a hoodie that looked like her last costume before Nicola Scott put her back in the red tank-top. That was a clever surprise. Also Bart's homemade costume being the old Kid Flash costume. That's also pretty smart.

Also, Kiran getting C-DD + cups. One of the qualms for Brett Booth is that we're again back to the 90's everyone in skintight clothing shtick. For instance Skitter's sister didn't need to be drawn to have big boobs and have her abs visible through her work shirt even if she's working at an Abercrombiesque store. I guess I'm used to Marcus To's more realistic and weighty looking clothing.

I would go crazy if Marcus To eventually got Teen Titans. It would look AMAZING. He's such a good fit. Maybe a cool new colorist...
