It has come to our attention that noted comics writer Peter David has suffered a stroke, the full extent of which is still being ascertained, though he was able to post the news on his blog himself. (Addition 31/12/12 - Kathleen David has updated the post with more details)
Regardless of any past events, on a personal level we naturally send Mr David our sincere best wishes and hope that he makes a full and speedy recovery.

Date: 2012-12-31 05:30 am (UTC)In this case because a lot of S_D members like Peter David's work and feel concerned and wish to express their sympathy and wishes for a quick and complete recovery (myself included), so it's not unlikely people would have wanted to post about it on s_d. And then they'd have had to include scan, and then that would have been awkward. So we cut to the chase and used our Mod's prerogative.

Date: 2012-12-31 10:56 pm (UTC)This news has hit me a bit emotionally as my mother had a kind of stork about a year ago. Something very different, but the idea of being so suddenly powerless to something in your brain scars teh hell out of me.
I'm gald at least his mind is still in order, and hope he will recover from the rest.
p.s. thank you S.D. mods for posting this.

Date: 2013-01-01 01:10 am (UTC)My father had a stroke himself years back...and while PAD almost certainly won't get everything back, he'll get most of it back if he's lucky and gets through rehab. If his mind is intact (and it clearly sounds like it is), most of what he's lost can be regained.
My best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.
