Isn't Wonder Woman suppose to have some sort of "sisterhood with fire" ability? It was the power she got from Hestia. It might make her resistant to heat vision.
Why J'onn didn't just shut down their brains telepathically or use his intangibility to rip out their hearts?
Well, to be fair (wait - am I actually *defending* this book?) J'onn is telepathic, so it wouldn't really make any difference whether he said it out loud or only thought it.
Look, this fight really shouldn't have gone down like that. If they wanted Superman to beat him, he'd have to, I dunno... Snipe him with his heat vision from a very safe distant.
Superman vs Martian Manhunter is almost a stalemate fight, until we realise J'onn can be intangible and has telepathy so...
A heat vision snipe still wouldn't kill him, unless it produced actual flames around him. It would just hurt. Martians take heat vision and heat-based attacks all the time--heck, they can produce heat vision when they feel like it, and J'onn's flown near the sun without dying.
Even true fire takes a while to kill him--he was standing in a burning forest with his skin permanently on fire in Tower of Babel, and all it did was cripple him. It's only in Elseworlds that he lights up like a box of shredded newspaper.
... I feel like an idiot. This must be playing our expectations of gratuitious death to be a fake out.
First, Bruce was watching passively. He knew this was going to go down.
Second, J'onn could use his telepathy way more effectively than that. I think he DID, to let them think he was dead.
Third, isn't J'onn getting released into the game this week via DLC? And in the background for one of the game's levels from the start? This seems very suspicious, to me.

Yep.
They can always get around it by saying it's the J'onn from the universe that didn't have Superman lose both Metropolis & his mind.
I'm with the people wondering how that was supposed to work. I mean, if MM was inside Wondy's organs and Wondy is immune to heat vision, how did that affect MM at all? Was he cooked inside her? Is she heated up by it, but not actually affected?
I also like it conceptually that just as the story and the characters are acknowledging that Martian Manhunter shouldn't be a pushover, the character shows up and proceeds to get taken out like a chump. Martian Manhunter just can't get no respect.
Also I'm a little unclear, hypothetically am I just supposed to be reading this series because I like the idea of superheroes killing each other? Because that's just depressing and adolescent.
The Martian weakness to fire is a psychological thing, right? So just the sensation of being on fire, even though it couldn't really hurt him, was enough to hurt him.
Poor J'onn. He's one of those characters that I really want to like; I loved Justice League International and Ostrander's solo series. But this kind of thing happens to him way too often-- where everyone makes a big point of stating how powerful he is, before prompting dispatching him. I mean, I'm not even a big DC reader and I'm sure I've seen that scenario at least five times. And every time it happens, it just makes J'onn look that much dumber for not understanding how to use his own nigh-invincible superpowers. Ah well.
.... the Burn me part is understandable cool, especially if you consider if it was J'onn making the request if he was being invaded... but all that... distrust amoung the League members seems... just wrong. It's like they became the X-Men...
In the Injustice game, J'onn is still alive. My roomie downloaded the MM DLC, and when you beat Arcade mode with him, it's revealed that J'onn has been hiding for some time, disguised as an royal advisor to Arthur in Atlantis, and has been working to keep it safe from Superman.
Then again, all the arcade endings to Injustice aren't really canon...and most of them are just awful.
The problem is that everyone who faces against Superman or Wonder Woman is going to get nerfed. Since they're the main villains in the game, gotta keep them threatening.
I tried liking this game but I just can't get over the fact that that a character like GA or batgirl could get punched into orbit by someone like supes and land back on earth unharmed
I always wondered what happened to our favorite Non-Oreos devourer on the game but, truth to be said, I was actually expecting him to survive or leaving Earth in disgust because of the Fascist League actions.
Why do modern adaptations have to increase the grim and grittiness of comics? Oh, well, it was a delight to see * SPOILERS * how the Earth-Good heroes defeated the Fascist League with ease seeing how Good Superman defeated both an evil Atlantean horde, Non-Doomsday and Super-Jerk in a row * SPOILERS END *. It is just a matter of time till this mini-series ends.

How long is this series going to last?
