Now it might be noted that my last post was a little on the heavy side, cute-wise. I make no apology for that, it being a time of year when cute is quite pleasant. However, in the interests of balance, I hope you'll accept this offering, which reminds us that no matter how good or bad Christmas was, it's a time for family... it just depends on what sort of a family you have

From the dark, hilarious genius of Charles Addams...

The family gathering...

The family shot for the Christma newsletter

One of my all time favourite Addams Family images, and why I knew I was going to enjoy the first movie, when they used this as the opening gag,

Trimming the tree

They don't make Christmas's like that any more....

hahaha the one with Wednesday & Pugsley fanning the fire took me a sec.. ;)

I saw an exhibition of Charles Addams' original pieces recently, super impressed with how great he was at shading/tones...you kind of lose that seeing it reproduced I think though obviously you don't lose any of the wit :D

I actually own the original version of the third one, framed along with the CoA from the New Yorker. My wife thinks I should hang it up, but I'm worried about it fading. Just a great, great piece.

oooh I'm envious.

You could get it framed using museum glass - or other uv protective glass. That tends to help keep stuff from fading if you choose to display it.

I definitely should. It's still in the frame the New Yorker shipped it in so I have no idea what kind of glass it is in. I should have that checked out honestly.

UV Glass, acid free/archival grade mounts, mats ect and put it on a wall where it won't get direct sunlight and you should be fine! If you can located a high end framer they can give you all sorts of good advice on displaying fine art.

The New Yorker sent it to me matted and framed when I purchased it, but I have no idea if it's high quality or not. It's one of those things where I've had it for six years but am slightly afraid to bring it to a frame store because what if they lose/rip/tear it, you know? At the same time it's silly having it hang in my closet because I don't know the quality of the frame and glass.

I'll definitely have to do that regarding the glass. It currently hangs in my closet. :-P I blew my first few Pokémon royalty checks on it - something I probably wouldn't have done had I been older, wise and more of a spendthrift.
