Back at the Soviet Occult research group's base, it turns out that they already had a colonel involved in the Vampir Sturm project in their cells (though cages would be a more accurate term), identifying him from a handwritten note left on a desk in the basement. The colonel asks Trevor and Varvara whether they're going to kill him now, as every other prisoner who was taken to talk to the girl was never seen again, and Trevor says that they just need to talk about the project.

Varvara naturally just yells at him to spill what he knows or she'll kill him, but Trevor manages to convince her to step outside so the Colonel will tell the story without fear of being torn limb from limb...

He sees a vision of a ruined Germany, where Allies, Soviets and Germans alike are slaughtered by the vampires, a nightmare even worse than the one Germany found itself in now.

"Like a light from Heaven. For the first time, I saw myelf, my life, for the truth of it... I was a criminal. A stain on the human race. A cancer. But no more."

The colonel lies, saying that Hitler didn't send an order to release the vampires. The SS guard doesn't buy this for a second, and attempts to release them anyway, only for the Colonel to shoot him. He then wrote the note, left it where it would be easily found, and bricked up the room with a mortar made from earth, rainwater and lime he found in the asylum shed.

Trevor asks why he didn't just tell the Soviets this earlier, and the Colonel explains that Stalin admired Hitler, and did he really think that they would actually destroy the vampires or try to figure out how to replicate the process for their own ends?

It's at this point that Trevor mentions that 100 of the frozen vampires are missing, a fact that noticably alarms the Colonel, who is then asked where they might have been moved to. The colonel explains that they'd need somewhere with enough power to keep them frozen, otherwise they'd have been overrun already, so they must be in a hidden bunker under the HQ of the General Foundation of Welfare and Institutional Care.

Trevor and his group rush off, followed by Varvara (muttering that she could have gotten the same information in half the time), as they follow up the lead on the cryotanks. Once in the bunker, they find a cluttered mess of half finished robots and dead cyborg animals. This proves to be the last straw for one of the American soldiers, who complains that due to Trevor's unwillingness to wait the Soviets have just been lead to a goldmine of sci-fi stuff that they're just going to claim for themselves. And if Trevor's just going to let the Soviet's take it without complaint, what purpose did their friends' deaths at the asylum and at the hands of Audo serve?

His sargeant doesn't take kindly to this outburst.

"Now, my lovely kriegaffen! Let no one live to see the surface again!" Upon which he unleashes his cybergorillas!

To be Concluded.

Wait, are those AK-47's in 1946? A minor detail among vampire WMD's, Russian doll demons and kriegaffen, but it stands out even more so.

Nazi super-weapons look like they were not very impractical.
