They're attacked by a horde of demons. The two fend them off but not before one of the creatures performs, if I'm reading the clues right, some mental whammy that hypnotizes Jen into losing interest in the Blue File mystery.

I love the writing on this comic, and the way She-Hulk actually talks to the Shocker instead of beating him up.

But man, the art on thjs arc, it burned my eyes something fierce. Not a fan. It just didn't work for me, with its particular take on well, aesthetics. And people. And stuff.

Yeah, "unique". As opposed to "good".

I know most people hated this art. But I loved the fight sequence in issue 6 that didn't get posted here.

Not pretty art, but very animated and kinetic, very She-Hulk smash.

Though some panels weird me out a little, I find this art a lot less bothersome than the not-quite-Mike-Allred art of the first arc.

Less bad, I'll give you that, but this would be a far better comic with an artist who would stick with one good palette instead of half a dozen mediocre ones that make She-Hulk everything from lemon green to dark green to aquamarine, and one who could actually draw She-Hulk's face and make it look like She-Hulk's face.

Spider-Man is fight. It's Spider-Man, he's all fast and spider-y, he's not going to let you run, so all that's left is fight. Punisher is run. He's not going to let you run, either, but still. Run.

This is Shocker, definitely Fight Spidey. Lucky hit can win it.

Hm, Punisher, Shocker'd have a reasonable chance against, but the danger may induce a run anyway...

It's kinda weird that he used DD as an example, though. There was a story where some villain (I forget who) said that they'd rather avoid him altogether because when they fight guys like Spider-Man and the like they might get knocked around and then tied to a post, but with the Devil they really get a beating.

I don't know if Shocker's fought him... and wouldn't the vibration gauntlets be very good against Matt? Maybe mess with his senses a bit?

And still, he's in the 'you might get lucky' range, not the 'you have no chance at all' range.

I complained about Pulido's work before, but man was I happy he was back on the latest issue. Wimberly's art made the previous issues almost impossible to get through, which is a shame because the writing is so good.

If I remember correctly, I think Spawn showed up in Maximum Carnage, for some bizarre reason. It's like he has the power of hoping publishers.

It's Kevin Trench, a.k.a. Nightwatch, an obscure hero from the '90s whose primary claim to fame is appearing in several issues of the Maximum Carnage crossover. As Kevin mentions in the posted scans, he's long since retired to focus on his medical practice.

Man the art for issue #5 is weird but it works so much better with the lighter coloring in issue 6.

Every time a comic with neat, unconventional art gets posted on scans_daily, I inevitably wind up disheartened reading the comments.

I mean, I wouldn't even call myself much of a fan of Ron Wimberly's work, but I find it to be head and shoulders above the Jim Lee-influenced generic, pseudo-realistic style that dominates so much of superhero comics. The fact that *this* is what gets so much ire up while that sort of stuff nobody so much as bats an eye at whenever it gets posted (every single page of that horrid Gods Is Dead art, to pick a recent especially ugly example), I just don't get it...

I know! People think Tom Scioli's art is bad too, I don't know what's going on with the world. At least the God is Dead posts are just Hickman hate-fests, no one there's paying any attention to the art.

This might just be selective memory, but it seems to me that the indy publishers get more of a pass on the more original art than Marvel or DC. Though to be honest, from browsing in my local shop and from the scans I see here, DC hasn't been experimenting nearly as much as Marvel has.

I liked #5 better than I liked #6, but #6 was partly eaten up by a weird demon battle that was...strange, and partly fallout from #5.

And I'm calling it now that Kevin Trench being alive is part of the mystery.

love this story... but the ART hurts.

this is a case of while the art is HORRIBLE, i acutally love the story enought to ignore that.
