It's been a week already, here's another installment of Heroes!

For the previous post follow this link scans-daily.dreamwidth.org/3348190.html or use this Heroes! tag scans-daily.dreamwidth.org/tag/title:+heroes!

This time I would like to introduce you to another one of my Heroes-subseries, SuperBuddies!
Which is my own way to both parody and serve as a tribute to my favorite iteration of the Justice League, ever!Oreos, romantic dates and more after the jump! )

I couldn't wait for this issue and when it finally arrived, all I can say is "what? That's iiiiiiiiiiit?!" Not that there isn't plenty happening - there is - but I just want more and when do I want it? NOW!

Meanwhile, feast your eyes on someone kicking some unexpected asses.

This is a long one, folks!

Okay, so a couple days ago I made an uncharitable comparison between Geoff John's New 52 Justice League of America vs Grant Morrison's JLA, using a secret files story to illustrate my point.

Few people agreed with that point, but hey, Star Seed was still a cool story. During the discussion of Morrison's JLA, a certain scene from very early in his JLA run came up, and [personal profile] drmcninja asked for scans.

No problem. I think it's been posted before, but I couldn't find it. Oh well. Here's the context.
29 pages out of 88 and 4 covers from 4 issues behind the cut. )
And so there you have it. Morrison's "widescreen" Justice League. The dream team. The big 7. The most powerful men and woman, and the most dangerous man. Hope you enjoy, [personal profile] drmcninja!

Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; this was a lot longer than I was expecting! . . . could someone give me a hand with the tags?

Note to self, Batman, Geoff Johns and Jim Lee's new Justice League of America #1 was just . . . not very good.

Here's a good intro to the JLA: from JLA Secret Files & Origins #1, Star Seed!
7 pages out of a 21 page story )
This wasn't actually the first appearance of this iteration of the Justice League, it had shown up first a year before in Justice League: A Midsummer's Nightmare as well as the JLA monthly title by Morrison and Porter. But this was an excellent jumping on point for readers. It introduces the whole league, pits them against a world- and even universe-spanning threat, dire straits, epic stakes, break-neck pace . . . everyone (except Aquaman, sorry) has at least something to do, even if it's only contributing an idea (yeah, okay, Batman steals the show, but hey, it's Batman! I'm totally fine with that.) And all in 21 pages! No decompression! The whole league pretty much working together, plus special guest star the Spectre!

Note to self, Geoff Johns, that's how you do a good team book introduction.

Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; no, I'm not gonna let that little grammar slip-up go, not without a fight.

Greetings

Saw this awesome parody, my opinion of course, of the Super Friends answering the question in the title and decided to share it here if anyone is interested. Can be found here, just giving warning that the video contains gruesome violence, superhero-dickery and inappropriate behaviour towards Robin. For legality, below is a scan of the JLA, the league of gods to be exact, being the awesome team they really were.

Greetings True Believers!

I've been inspired by Domino Blue's post below so I'll be taking a rare dip into the DC pool.

Back in 2004 DC had a mini-series were Wildstorm hero and Superman analogue Mr. Majestic landed in the main DCverse.

Now, Mr. M is quite different then Clark and it's been rubbing this Earth the wrong way.

Stop me if you've heard this one before. Two superheroes walk into a diner...

Enjoy!

And so our Bloodlines event comes to its surprising conclusion.

We saw the DC heroes captured by the newly risen Taker, all except Flash and Superman. Now it's time for a new group of heroes to get their butts kicked, I mean save the day.

One (well two sorta) New Bloods powers proved utterly key in this story, can you guess which tough guy saves the day?

18.5 pages from a 56 page story.

Okay Taker, Let's Mix it Up! )

The Bloodlines have ended. The heroes of the DCU are now finally able to assemble against the Parasite threat, but will it be enough? Or will it be the fall of Earth?

18 pages of a 56 page story.

I have to also warn you that while the art of the Annuals each had specific teams who were used to the books they were on...  but the artists who worked on Bloodbath varied, and the art seemed very rushed at times. (Including having a page that I won't post with Martian Manhunter on it that hurts my eyes)

And you thought the Parasites were bad? )

So the final issue of Brightest Day came out, wherein we get the grand reintroduction of Swamp Thing to the DCU! Except... not exactly. And I'm really not sure how to feel about this.

SPOILERS GALORE behind the cut! )

This is my first time in a long while that I've hastily thrown together a post for a brand new issue. Please let me know if I've screwed up at all with spoilers or anything. Bat-Apologies in advance.

So I was reading a collection the other. Can't remember which but there was one story I'd like to find. It was a green lantern story with the 4 earth boys meeting for a campfire thing. Guy was toasting marshmellows and Kyle was late because he ran into a bad guy. Anyone know?
