"...WOLVERINE. BEAST. Only one of ’em’s left standing after these CLONE WARS. And it ain’t no clone. But what will this mean for mutantkind, and does X-Force still have time to stop it? Beast’s shocking character arc has been one of the most talked about plot threads of the Krakoan age and fans won’t want to miss the centuries-long culmination of this years-in-the-making journey!"

"...Madelyne Pryor takes charge with her own twisted team of X-Men in Dark X-Men!Written by Steve Foxe and drawn by Jonas Scharf, Dark X-Men will star a squad of X-Men unlike any other you’ve seen before: Madelyne Pryor, Havok, Archangel, Gambit, Azazel, Zero, Albert, and Emplate. This deadly group will band together to fill the void left by the X-Men, and are seemingly the perfect team to combat the harsh conditions of FALL OF X. Their hearts are in the right place but under the unpredictable leadership of the Goblin Queen and operating out of New York’s new Limbo Embassy, will this team’s dark ways turn the tide for mutantkind or make things far worse?
Following the explosive events of the Hellfire Gala, Madelyne Pryor realizes the world needs the X-Men now more than ever. Havok, Archangel, and Gambit have served on teams before…but never one that looks like this! And how does Gimmick, breakout star of Children of the Atom and 2023’s Marvel’s Voices: Pride, fall under the Goblin Queen’s sway? Find out in the most horrific installment of the X-Men saga yet!"

"...a small band of mutantkind’s fiercest warriors are sent on a mystical mission across the Ten Realms in Realm of X!Written by Torunn Grønbekk and drawn by Diógenes Neves, Realm of X will continue the Krakoan Era’s fascinating exploration of mutant magic as a ragtag group of mutants become players in a mystical war orchestrated by a familiar adversary. This mysterious mastermind wants to manipulate mutantkind just as they’re at their lowest—but they’ve messed with the wrong ones! Can Magik, former Valkyrie Dani Moonstar, Marrow, Dust, Curse, and Typhoid Mary overcome their differences and rise as legendary heroes of the Ten Realms? Or will their mere presence escalate the conflict and warp mutantkind’s destiny forever?
Leaping straight from the astonishing events of this year’s Hellfire Gala, an unlikely group of mutants find themselves stranded in…Vanaheim? And whats even more confusing, the locals seem to believe that they hold the key to fulfilling a prophecy that can either raise the realm to riches – or cause it to fall to ruin. With Magik’s powers malfunctioning and a mysterious figure amassing power on the outskirts of the realm, these X-Men are going to going to have to band together if they want to stay alive long enough to find their way home!"

"...one member will strike out on their own as Earth’s new protector in Astonishing Iceman!Just in time for the X-Men’s 60th anniversary, readers will witness one of the X-Men’s founding members embark on his most extraordinary chapter yet in a new ongoing series written by Steve Orlando and drawn by Vincenzo Carratù. Iceman’s newfound purpose will position him amongst Marvel’s most powerful beings, but a dark side effect of his new mission could cause it all to shatter…
After the events of this year’s can’t-miss Hellfire Gala, Bobby Drake, aka Iceman, sets his sights on heroic deeds like never before. But as a new situation develops that links Iceman to his Antarctic ice palace, he’ll have to be slicker than ever to accomplish his mission before ORCHIS knows what hit them! "As the nineteenth century drew to a close, the dying Nathaniel Essex unleashed four clones of himself into the world. They’ve been haunting it ever since, while lurking in the shadows. We know what Sinister has been up to. What about the others? In this issue, we delve into their past…and discover their latest atrocity. When they start to…date?"

Date: 2023-04-08 08:10 am (UTC)Dark could be good, I like what I've seen of Foxe's writing and it's got a pretty unconventional roster.
Realms... I don't know. I love the mixed-up all-women cast, but Gronbekk's a Thor writer, which makes me worry this might be more of an Asgard book than an X-book.

Date: 2023-04-08 01:19 pm (UTC)She's also had the oddity of being one of the fewe Native American heroes and she's at least partly defined by her connections to the Norse pantheo, of all things.

Date: 2023-04-08 09:09 am (UTC)Just an "Oh, you can have back a copy of the memories I stole from you" doesn't really get close to cutting it, really.

Date: 2023-04-08 09:36 am (UTC)And with Curse on the second team do they even have to ask whether it will turn good or bad?
no subject
Date: 2023-04-08 01:22 pm (UTC)And I don't think we can define Curse by her past life, which has been acknowledged as being problematic and with little in the way of guidance, any more than we should, say, Magik, who spent her adoolescnce with three fifths of her soul being demonic.

Date: 2023-04-08 03:47 pm (UTC)Putting Curse on a team with Typhoid Mary certainly sounds like a poor idea. They should really keep that kid away from any bad role models.

Most of these sound kind of interesting, but not enough to grab me.
I see Warren is Archangel again this week.
Albert's quite the deep cut.
"Breakout star of Children of the Atom."
"'Breakout star of that title that was endlessly delayed thanks to 2020 and then stopped after six issues' wouldn't fit."
Oh, hey. Dust's not being written by Spurrier anymore then.
Definite step up.

Date: 2023-04-08 10:40 am (UTC)It would be interested in seeing Typhoid Mary in an X-Men book, though.

Date: 2023-04-08 03:55 pm (UTC)Xavier - Where to being with you Chuck... oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Promised no jails on Krakoa, with the Pit as a short term thing and suddenly it's the ONLY punishment. Messed up relationship opportunities with your son.
Emma - Snappy dresser, snappier wit, you GO girl! A+ rating, and that's not because you threatened to mindzap us into infancy if we didn't... Probably
Storm - Effortless style and powers, but for the love of the sacred biome, pick a group already! Are you Quiet Council, Great Ring ot Brotherhood this week? We can't keep up.
Kitty - My Speaker said he'd pout for a week if I didn't give you an A+ rating, and we don't want that... Not that I wouldn't have given you an A+ anyway. He's also asked me to express how much he's loving the Captain Harlock cosplay... I don't what that is, but I'm a landmass, I don't have much time for television.

Date: 2023-04-08 09:58 pm (UTC)Especially Realm: not a single one of the Not New Not Different.
I'm glad that Zero is back. He was great in Generation Hope, at least while Gillen was writing. Interested in Albert, Azazel and Emplate too, but I hope they are not there as redshirts.
Dani on Asgard is always a good thing in my book, as are her interactions with Illyana.

Date: 2023-04-08 11:35 pm (UTC)Albert slit Doug's throat (he got better thanks to Inhuman tech) and then Daredevil and Misty pounded the crap out of him (Albert, not Doug) and Doug zapped him with an Inhuman energy-bazooka thingie... so someone probably picked up the remains.
