I'll probably have more to say about this at some point. In one sense, it's an old story that's never really gone away, but it does hit different now that it's often people I regarded as peers doing the telling. I've been very lucky in a lot of ways, especially by having other things to fall back on, but I've encountered enough employers who treated paying "talent" as optional to know the complaints here are more than valid.
(Of course, there are already people misusing the tag in various ways, from denying that freelancer abuse exists to trying to co-opt it as a Comicsgate thing. But they're mostly getting drowned out at the moment.)
