X-Men (1991) Annual #2

The gimmicks of Marvel's 1993 annuals was introducing rad new characters. This annual introduced some guy establishing a colony for victims of the Legacy Virus or whatever? Ultimately, it didn't matter who he was or what his powers were as he hardly appeared again outside of this annual. He was hardly Adam-X, the X-TREME!

It is doubly irrelevant because I didn't make a post to talk about him. Here is Psylocke/Revanche kinda-sorta saying the thing.

I guess Revanche really is the real Elizabeth Braddock, because she bangs on about her telepathic powers too.

Fragment of her telepathic abilities? So, the focused partiality? Maybe?

I questioned the wording too—wouldn’t the Psychic Blade be more plausibly an outgrowth of her telekinesis?

Nah, Psylocke didn't have telekinesis then. That wasn't until several years when Claremont came back. There was a six month time skip and suddenly Psylocke had telekinesis instead of telepathy and Jean Grey only had telepathy.

It was weird and never explained, and Jean just got her TK back when Grant Morrison took over, but Betsy got to keep both powers.

IIRC the idea was to eventually explain via Flashbacks(which knowing Claremont would have been Verbose) involving Betsy and Jean facing the Shadow King to try to free Betsy's telepathy from having to keep him contained but then the Six Month Gap plot lines kind of fizzled and the titles got shuffled.

Betsy did stay TK-only for a while (though a fair part of that was her being dead). As I recall, the Claremontism on her telekinetic blade was that it was "strong enough to shatter a mountain."

Was she going around experimenting on mountains?

"Hey, guys, on the news they're saying the Rocky Mountains seem to have been turned to rubble."
"How odd! And I, Psylocke, had nothing to do with it! I-I mean, the very notion that someone would use their telekinetic might to casually destroy entire mountains. Ha. Ha-hah."

I suppose if you want to be generous you could assume the x-men have tech in Cerebro and/or the danger room to measure max output to allow folks to know their limits.

But the idea that she's either just pulling a comparison out of her ass or actually went and blew up a mountain some where is much funnier IMO.
