Oh, DC vs. Vampires, how I… well, “missed you” is a bit strong.
How can Prometheus hypnotise anybody if he’s not making eye contact? Is it just the red colour in their eyes that hypnotises folks? Are colourblind people immune then or what?
An “offer”? Isn’t biting just enough to turn you into a vampire? Or did she have to drink vampire blood like what they made Jason Todd do? And why make the offer at all when they’ve shown plenty of times they don’t care about consent? What good to them is a vampirised child anyway?
Wasn’t Azrael burned to death in a previous tie-in? Or was that a different Azrael? How come he’s still himself as a vampire but everyone else immediately loses all personality?
If Mary Batson and Mary Marvel technically count as two different beings, why don’t they just bite her when she’s in her Marvel form? What’s stopping her from just immediately yelling SHAZAM again? Or just closing her eyes and plugging her ears?
So that one dude is safe from her lightning, what about everyone else without that magic protection, like Wonder Woman and Prometheus?
I like the twist with Mary marvel. Buy why did his turning and some others immediately make them want to take over. While others apparently feed aimlessly? Is it based on the power of the parent vampire?
This series continues to infuriate me. Mary should be fine. Turning into Mary Marvel should purge the infection. That's why Malik doesn't have a bullet hole in his chest whenever he Dezams. It just seems like the writers can't figure out ways to make this vampire scenario work without either making everyone stupid or disregarding obvious contradictions in lore. Like with Starfire. Her blood is just FULL of solar energy. Yet, rather than kill vampires, it grants immunity from not just the sun (which, SORT of makes sense) but ALL vampiric weaknesses? Hal should be useless as he's either dead, which would make the ring leave to find a new bearer (though I know this doesn't ALWAYS work), or his compromised will should make it non-functional. The list of nonsense goes on and on.
If Mary has an "Uninfected Immortal body to hide in" wouldn't the same apply to Cap, Freddy, Black-Adam, and all the the other members of the Marvel family?
I have to agree with the other folks here; this whole series has holes big enough to drive a semi-truck through. A story where the heroes battle a vampire infection, even one where some of them turn, is one thing. But this one, where they fall like bowling pins, the vamps are invincible, and like blues32 said, the writers just make everyone stupid and disregard obvious contradictions in lore, is just frustrating and exhausting.
