And this is what I HATED on this whole Superior arc: That all these guys who have known Spidey for years, including his other identity, don't find it at all odd he's fighting with a different body language, talking in an arrogant scholarly tone and acting like he barely knows any of them.

Hell, Slott himself even had to acknowledge it when Peter gets his body back, briefly acts like Ock and "wow, I talked like that for months and no one noticed?" Just annoying to mar the whole thing.

Yeah, that was my frustration with Sandman's treatment in the Bryne/Mackie reboot (all the sudden his "friends" in the hero community just forget the Wizard has brainwashing tech)

This is so much worse because of how well-connected Spider-Man was at this time. None of the Avengers thought to check for Space Phantoms? The X-Men didn't probe his mind? The Fantastic Four didn't check on the Puppet Master? Surely Doctor Strange checked for demonic possession and noticed there was more than one person in there.

There was a bit Avengers scan Ock...and only determine "you're not a Skrull" and Peter in Ock's mind is "Seriously?! That's it?!" And calls them out when he gets his body back on how they could not see it.

For X-Men, he runs into them and worried on telepaths so just picks a fight with Wolverine to distract them.

Yeah, I know Slott likes to handwave away some of the more obvious arguments against his plots but they rarely address the main issue.

I think that there's an argument to be made that Johnny Storm is Peter's best friend (especially given how poorly Peter treats Harry, Randy, and Flash and how Marvel keeps sabotaging ANY kind of close relationship with MJ).

As a member of the F4, the Human Torch runs into about as much weird nonsense as Spider-Man and I don't think he'd give up after ruling out one possibility,

"Tony told Reed you're not a Skrull - thank Kirby - and I don't see the Malice collar on you. Have you had any run-ins with the Psycho-Man recently? Do you remember where the Winkler Device is? I'm going to call your brother in Texas and make sure this isn't a Clone thing"

I don't think "body-swapped with recently deceased villain" would be on the top of anyone's list but there should be a longer list.

I’m reminded that they sent Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben on an extradimensional field trip at the time Superior was going on, and I can’t help but assume that was by design. Because surely they would have figured it out, even if all the other heroes took stupid pills.

Johnny: Yeah, Spidey’s definitely been taken over by a super villain.

Except Reed was also using a doohickie to go back to Earth so he could hang out with the Illuminati over in New Avengers.
And if he had time enough to have dinner with Doom, he surely had enough time to...
