The war in Benzheen rages on, with Stalker, Dusty, and Sneak-Peek pinned down in a Porsche dealership. Luckily, Battle Force 2000 is on their way to rescue them. And Cobra doesn't stand a chance against a force so high-tech, it's named after the year 2000.



















"But if he does come home, he's promised to take me sailing around the world with him on his boat, The Live-4-Ever!"







With no support coming, Stalker decides to make a break for it.

Editor: "Dammit, Larry, you know the deal! Hasbro lets us use the license, you have to feature the characters they tell us to!"

Hama: "And I did. I gave every member of Battle Force 2000 face time, let their names be called out. It was never specified how I had to use them or if they do anything notable before dying."

Editor; "Seriously? You're going to play Doctor Doom exact word games with me?"

Gotta give Larry some credit. Trying to tell semi-realistic warfare stories with a toyline that was going increasingly off the rails in its final years is not something I'd want to attempt.

Huh. I wonder if Sneak Peak and Dusty are meant to be read as a couple or just friends?

I was reading Joe in the trades they were doing a looong while back, but had to stop for financial reasons before they got to this era. I've only drifted in and out of posts, but this has been a brutal arc. No big heroic sacrifices, just the senseless deaths of good men sent to die for bad reasons.

Back when they were first introduced, I noted they wouldn't exactly get a heroic ending.

Yeah... fuck those guys. Larry really just threw them under the bus. I mean, damn. The only one to survive did so because he was getting a new action figure.
But I don't remember a single distinguishing personality trait among the team otherwise.

Meanwhile, Sneak-Peek gets the sort of slow, heroic, developed death a long-term character deserves, making it even weirder how Hama dedicated a 2 issue story to DC Jazzy Jeff--I mean Cool Breeze, a never-before-seen newbie.

Which makes it all the weirder/funnier/Hamaesque that he will turn up alive later with absolutely no explanation, and then be given an entire storyline to explain his faked death for undercover reasons, which I'm pretty sure was already covered in the other ARAH retrospective so shouldn't be a spoiler...

I think the implication is that he died being carried back by Dusty.

RIP Dee-Jay, I had his figure, can't remember what his role was at all.

Kind of funny that all that shelling would take out everyone but Dodger and his vehicle, including the guy sitting right behind him.

IDK what it is but Dusty kind of looks like a younger Vin Diesel.
