Jean and Hank eventually make it back home, but the rest of the X-Men end up in the Savage Land.

Not really relevant to anything, but these issues and X-Men ’97 have reinvigorated my interest in the X-Men after Krakoa pretty much killed off any interest for me. It probably helps that, joking aside, the Claremont/Byrne era is my favourite era of the X-Men.

Back before he was interested in turning everyone into dinosaurs.

Fun fact of the day: Wolverine only got that photo of Jean by breaking into her apartment and stealing it, then trying to murder Danny Rand when he found him there, Danny having been there because he had a key because he was dating Jean's roommate Misty Knight at the time.
Wolverine's a creep.
(And a few issues from now he gets a crush on a certain someone from Japan. Real love of the ages there.
"Oh, Jeannie, Jeannie, I'll never forget ya... what's for breakfast?")

"My dearest friend."
...
The 'friendship' between Ororo and Jean is one of those instances where Claremont runs headlong into "tell, don't show".
They've had like, four conversations since issue 95.
Half of which are about how they're BFFs For Life.
But we've never seen them actually doing anything to back up this awesome friendship, or any of the actual groundwork.
Or even just hanging out.
And the next big interaction they'll have is during Dark Phoenix when Jeanix is convinced she's an 18th century aristocrat and Ororo's a runaway slave.
'Ro's got a more believable friendship with her freaking plants...

Y'know why Colossus ain't there at the end. 'cuz he's off gettin' some.
The start of one of those weird Claremontian plot threads where years later it turns out he has a son, and yet never seems to grasp this fact, even when his mom's named him Peter.

... huh, never noticed Sauron's got a gun there.
What does Sauron need a gun for? He's a pterodactyl man.
Where'd he even get the gun from? He's been in the Savage Land for years.

This would start a bugging thing when they do return to the States and still think Beast dead when, um, sure the death of an Avenger would be something in the news...

To be fair, if Hank had actually died who but the X-Men would have known to alert the press? He was searching for the missing team "undercover" and on his own a few issues before.

I'm guessing if they'd bothered to call Avengers Mansion when they got back (or just Simon Williams), a lot would have been cleared up.
